It was first discovered by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer satellite between 3 and 9 June 2010, and later on October 2010 by the Catalina Sky Survey, the latter of which mistakenly identified it as a separate object named 2010 TJ 175.Shanklin_2010 In 2023, Colin O. Chandler later reported that cometary activity was detected from DECam imagery taken in September 2019,Chandler_2023 likely caused by sublimation of material from its surface.Liu_2025 References C.
