The NCAA ruled this self-imposed punishment as adequate, stating that "the violations were limited in scope" and "there was no unethical conduct in this case", and went on to praise the school's handling of the affair, with the chairman of the NCAA infractions committee stating, "This has been one of the best cases I have seen from a process standpoint. . . . In this case, it was obvious to the committee that the university wanted to get to the truth." The commissioner went on to state that USC "wanted to ask all the hard questions of all the right people and, in some cases, they even went beyond what the NCAA staff was doing."University of South Carolina Sports news by GoGamecocks.com – Columbia, South Carolina http://www.gogamecocks.com/2012/04/27/229597/uscs-self-imposed-sanctions-satisfy.html gogamecocks.comJuly 2018 InternetArchiveBot yes Rankings 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football rankings 15 6 7 12 12 12 12 10 11 12 10 10 9 18 14 15 13 15 14 12 13 14 14 14 14 13 10 10 11 9 15 15 16 13 14 14 15 12 14 13 13 12 14 13 14 12 10 9 9 9 9 8 Coaching staff Steve Spurrier – Head coachhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/spurrier_steve00.html Bio: Steve Spurrier 2011-09-01 2008-12-23 https://web.archive.org/web/20081223125835/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/spurrier_steve00.html dead Ellis Johnson – Assistant head coach, defensive coordinatorhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/johnson_ellis00.html Bio: Ellis Johnson 2011-09-01 2008-12-23 https://web.archive.org/web/20081223160728/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/johnson_ellis00.html dead Lorenzo Ward – Defensive coordinator, cornerbacks coachhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ward_lorenzo00.html Bio: Lorenzo Ward 2011-09-01 2009-10-08 https://web.archive.org/web/20091008025820/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ward_lorenzo00.html dead John Butler – Special teams coordinatorBio: John Butler Shawn Elliott – Offensive line coach, running game coordinatorhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/elliott_shawn00.html Bio: Shawn Elliott September 1, 2011 February 6, 2010 https://web.archive.org/web/20100206214219/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/elliott_shawn00.html dead Craig Fitzgerald – Strength & conditioning coachhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/fitzgerald_craig00.html Bio: Craig Fitzgerald 2011-09-01 2009-10-08 https://web.archive.org/web/20091008025722/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/fitzgerald_craig00.html dead Jay Graham – Running backs and tight ends coachhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/graham_jay00.html Bio: Jay Graham 2011-09-01 2009-10-08 https://web.archive.org/web/20091008025732/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/graham_jay00.html dead Jeep Hunter – Safeties coachBio: Jeep Hunter Brad Lawing – Defensive line coachhttp://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lawing_brad00.html Bio: Brad Lawing 2011-09-01 2008-12-25 https://web.archive.org/web/20081225112623/http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lawing_brad00.html dead G.
