The regular season began on June 22 and ended on August 17 with a championship series on September 21. While the Miami Spice went 5–0 to claim the regular season crown they were defeated by the Illinois Heart in the championship game. Regular season The league began its inaugural season on June 22, 2013, with five teams of women selected for looks, personality, and playing ability. In late June 2013, the Philadelphia Diamonds shut down before their inaugural game. This reduced the league to four teams playing a combined total of 12 games over 10 weeks. The Miami Spice went 5–0, the Illinois Heart went 3–2, the Houston Inferno struggled to a 1–4 finish, and the Las Vegas Fantasy went 0–3 before folding in late July 2013. The Las Vegas collapse further reduced the number of completed games in the inaugural regular season to 9. Playoffs Several weeks after the regular season ended, the league announced that the three surviving teams would compete in a two-game single-elimination tournament at the Kroc Center in Chicago on September 21, 2013. The Illinois Heart defeated the Houston Inferno 94–77 to advance to the championship later that day. Illinois defeated the regular season champion Miami Spice 96–89 to claim the league championship. 2013 schedule Regular season Week Date Home team Visitor Results Score Winner 1 June 22 Houston Inferno Las Vegas Fantasy 46–42 Houston 1 June 22 Illinois Heart Miami Spice 57–64 Miami 2 June 29 Las Vegas Fantasy Illinois Heart 30–101 Illinois 3 July 6 Miami Spice Houston Inferno 102–68 Miami 4 July 13 Houston Inferno Illinois Heart 42–53 Illinois 5 July 20 Miami Spice Las Vegas Fantasy 82–76 Miami 6 July 27 Las Vegas Fantasy Houston Inferno – (cancelled) 6 July 27 Miami Spice Illinois Heart 101–79 Miami 7 August 3 Illinois Heart Las Vegas Fantasy – (cancelled) 8 August 10 Houston Inferno Miami Spice 49–77 Miami 9 August 17 Illinois Heart Houston Inferno 73–54 Illinois 10 August 24 Las Vegas Fantasy Miami Spice – (cancelled) Championship Game Date Home team Visitor Results Score Winner Semi September 21 Illinois Heart Houston Inferno 94–77 Illinois Final September 21 Illinois Heart Miami Spice 96–89 Illinois League standings {| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center" |- ! colspan="10" style="vertical-align:middle;" | 2013 Bikini Basketball Association standings |- !width="160"| !width="30"| W Wins !width="30"| L Losses !width="30"| T Ties !width="30"| PCT Winning percentage !width="30"| GB Games Back !width="30"| STK Current Winning or Losing Streak |- | style="text-align:left;" | Miami Spice || 5 || 0 || 0 || 1.000 || 0.0 || W5 |- | style="text-align:left;" | Illinois Heart || 3 || 2 || 0 || 0.600 || 2.0 || W1 |- | style="text-align:left;" | Houston Inferno || 1 || 4 || 0 || 0.200 || 4.0 || L4 |- | style="text-align:left;" | Las Vegas Fantasy (folded) || 0 || 3 || 0 || 0.000 || 4.0 || L3 |} References 30em Bikini Basketball Association Schedule http://bikinibasketball.com/schedule/ October 16, 2013 April 17, 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20130417183509/http://bikinibasketball.com/schedule/ dead Bikini Basketball Association Official website http://bikinibasketball.com/ October 16, 2013 The Philadelphia Inquirer Philadelphia, PA Philadelphia Media Network Forget Lingerie Football, we've got Bikini Basketball http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/pattisonave/Forget-Lingerie-Football-weve-got-Bikini-Basketball.html January 29, 2013 February 1, 2013 Ciara LaVelle Miami New Times Miami Spice Bikini Basketball Releases 2013 Game Schedule http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/cultist/2013/04/miami_spice_bikini_basketball_2.php April 16, 2013 October 16, 2013 Steve Gorten Sun-Sentinel Fort Lauderdale, FL Tribune Company Bikini Basketball women's league more than meets the eye http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/fl-bikini-basketball-league-spice-0620-20130619,0,4943769.story https://archive.today/20130701055956/http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/fl-bikini-basketball-league-spice-0620-20130619,0,4943769.story dead July 1, 2013 June 19, 2013 June 30, 2013 Joel Jackson Houston Sports Zone Houston Inferno Defeats Las Vegas Fantasy 46-42 http://houstonsportszone.com/2013/06/23/houston-inferno-defeats-las-vegas-fantasy-46-42/ June 23, 2013 June 30, 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20131016204825/http://houstonsportszone.com/2013/06/23/houston-inferno-defeats-las-vegas-fantasy-46-42/ October 16, 2013 dead mdy-all Ciara LaVelle Miami New Times Miami Spice Beats Illinois Heart in First-Ever Bikini Basketball Game http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/cultist/2013/06/miami_spice_beats_illinois_hea.php June 24, 2013 June 30, 2013 Dan Krieger Our Sports Central Weekly Sports League and Franchise Report http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=4629593 July 1, 2013 July 1, 2013 Sideline Hype Miami’s Bikini Basketball Team Heats Up the Court http://sidelinehype.com/2013/07/09/miamis-bikini-basketball-team-heats-up-the-court-spicemiami/ July 9, 2013 July 30, 2013 Tiffany Huertas Fox News Latino 'Bikini Basketball' Player Andrea Gomez Encourages Latinas To Dream Big http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2013/09/12/bikini-basketball-player-andrea-gomez-encourages-latinas-to-dream-big/ September 12, 2013 October 16, 2013 External links Bikini Basketball Association official website Category:Bikini Basketball Association seasons Category:2013 in American women's basketball Category:2012–13 in American basketball by league Category:2013–14 in American basketball by league
