"Buster" Cook 1st John Dashfield none The 1934 Dixie Rebels football team was an American football team that represented Dixie University (affiliated with Somerville School of Law) during the 1934 college football season. In its second and final season of college football, Dixie compiled a record of 0–7, managing to score just two touchdowns during the entire season. With the departure of head coach Nick Dobbs toward the end of the 1933 season, the Dixie football program floundered, and after the end of the 1934 season, the team was disbanded and never played another game. Dixie University itself closed, too, albeit without any formal notification, as all references to Dixie vanished by 1935.http://www.lostcolleges.com/Dixie-University https://web.archive.org/web/20200919164209/https://www.lostcolleges.com/dixie-university dead September 19, 2020 Lost Colleges Dixie University September 21, 2020 Schedule September 27 l y 1934 East Texas Baptist Tigers East Texas Baptist Fair Park Stadium Marshall, TX 0–61 5,000 Tigers Humble Dixie University by Score of 61-0 https://www.newspapers.com/clip/64434883/The-Marshall-News-Messenger/ The Marshall News Messenger September 28, 1934 3 Newspapers.com October 11 l y University of San Antonio San Antonio, TX 0-31 Dixie Rebels Buried Under 41-to-0 Score The Dallas Morning News October 12, 1934 5 NewsBank College Football The Dallas Morning News October 12, 1934 7 NewsBank October 13 l y 1934 Texas A&I Javelinas Texas A&I Kingsville, TX 0–71 Javelinas Trounce Dixie Rebels From Dallas 71-0 https://www.newpaperarchive.com/sports-clipping-oct-17-1934-2097028/The-Kingsville-Record/ The Kingsville Record October 17, 1934 2 NewspaperArchive.com December 12, 2024 December 2, 2020 https://web.archive.org/web/20241212035847/https://www.newpaperarchive.com/sports-clipping-oct-17-1934-2097028/The-Kingsville-Record/ dead October 19 l y 1934 John Tarleton Plowboys John Tarleton Stephenville, TX 0–46 Dixie Rebels Swamped, This Time by Plowboys The Dallas Morning News October 20, 1934 3 NewsBank November 3 l y 1934 Trinity Tigers Trinity (TX) freshmen Yoakum Field Waxahachie, TX 6–12 Trinity Freshmen Down Dixie Rebel Gridders, 12 to 6 The Dallas Morning News November 4, 1934 2 NewsBank November 7 l y Wesley College Phillips Field Greenville, TX 0–32 Wesley Panthers Outclass Dixie Rebels of Dallas https://www.newpaperarchive.com/sports-clipping-nov-08-1934-2097045/The-Greenville-Evening-Banner/ The Greenville Evening Banner November 8, 1934 3 NewspaperArchive.com December 12, 2024 December 2, 2020 https://web.archive.org/web/20241212034912/https://www.newpaperarchive.com/sports-clipping-nov-08-1934-2097045/The-Greenville-Evening-Banner/ dead November 24 l y 1934 Clifton Wildcats Clifton Clifton, TX 6–34 Clifton College Beats Dixie U.
