In their fifth season under head coach Bill Curry, the Wildcats compiled a 1–10 record (0–8 against SEC opponents), finished in last place in the Eastern Division of the SEC, and were outscored by their opponents, 405 to 149. The team won its season opener against Louisville (20–14), but then lost the final ten games of the season, including blowout losses to Florida (73–7), Indiana (59–29), Mississippi State (47–7), and Tennessee (52–0), as well as an embarrassing 21–14 home loss to Division I-A newcomer Northeast Louisiana. The Wildcats also blew a 10–0 lead vs. LSU and lost 17–13, the Tigers' only win over an eight-game stretch which led to the firing of coach Curley Hallman. The team played its home games in Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky. This was the Wildcats' worst season since going 0–10–1 in 1982, their first under Curry's predecessor, Jerry Claiborne. They would not lose 10 games in a season until back-to-back 2–10 campaigns in 2012 and 2013 (the NCAA first allowed a 12th regular season game in 2002; the rule was made permanent in 2006). The team's statistical leaders included Antonio O'Ferral with 642 passing yards, Moe Williams with 805 rushing yards, and Leon Smith with 375 receiving yards.1994 Kentucky Wildcats Stats Sports Reference LLC SR/College Football August 23, 2016 https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/kentucky/1994.html Schedule 1994 AP Eastern September 3 7:00 p.m. w y Louisville Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY Governor's Cup 20–14 59,162 https://www.newspapers.com/article/lexington-herald-leader-game-one-derful/140355821/ Lexington Herald-Leader Game one-derful; O'Ferral leads UK to 20–14 victory September 4, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com September 10 3:30 p.m. l y Florida 2 Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Gainesville, FL rivalry ABC 7–73 85,238 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-jackson-sun-dean-no-2-floridda-ove/140349207/ The Jackson Sun Dean, No. 2 Florida overpower Kentucky, 73–7 September 11, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com September 17 7:00 p.m. l y Indiana Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY rivalry 29–59 57,825 https://www.newspapers.com/article/palladium-item-smith-takes-iu-from-red-z/140355942/ Palladium-Item Smith takes IU from red zone to end zone September 18, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com September 24 7:00 p.m. l South Carolina Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY PPV 9–23 56,900 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-advocate-messenger-kentuckys-downhi/140353995/ The Kentucky Advocate Kentucky's downhill slide continues September 25, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com September 29 7:00 p.m. l y Auburn 9 Jordan-Hare Stadium Auburn, AL ESPN 14–41 74,315 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-dothan-eagle-auburn-punishes-kentuck/140356058/ The Dothan Eagle Auburn punishes Kentucky September 30, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com October 15 8:00 p.m. l y LSU Tiger Stadium Baton Rouge, LA 13–17 61,764 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-paducah-sun-lsus-hill-keeps-cats-o/135370949/ The Paducah Sun LSU's Hill keeps 'Cats on slide October 16, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com October 22 7:00 p.m. l Georgia Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY 30–34 56,125 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-macon-telegraph-graham-rescues-bulld/135369870/ The Macon Telegraph Graham rescues Bulldogs October 23, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com October 29 7:00 p.m. l Mississippi State Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY 7–47 49,500 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-commercial-appeal-bullies-wallop-uk/140356198/ The Commercial Appeal Bullies wallop UK 'Cats October 30, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com November 5 1:00 p.m. l y Vanderbilt Vanderbilt Stadium Nashville, TN rivalry 6–24 40,500 https://www.newspapers.com/article/messenger-inquirer-vandy-rumbles-past-uk/140355549/ Messenger-Inquirer Vandy rumbles past UK November 6, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com November 12 1:00 p.m. l y Northeast Louisiana Commonwealth Stadium Lexington, KY 14–21 32,000 https://www.newspapers.com/clip/69042779/rudolphs-stumble-another-uk-pratfall/ The Courier-Journal Rudolph's stumble another UK pratfall, 21–14 November 13, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com November 19 12:30 p.m. l Tennessee Neyland Stadium Knoxville, TN rivalry JPS 0–52 95,066 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-paducah-sun-currys-nightmare-over/140352931/ The Paducah Sun Curry's nightmare over; Vols put Cats out of misery November 20, 1994 February 5, 2024 Newspapers.com 1994 Kentucky Wildcats Schedule and Results Sports Reference LLC SR/College Football August 23, 2016 https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/kentucky/1994-schedule.html1995 Kentucky Wildcats Football Media Guide, p.168, 209Kentucky Football Media Guide University of Kentucky August 23, 2016 184 2015 http://www.ukathletics.com/page/2015-football-media-guide Roster 1994 Kentucky Wildcats f }} * References Kentucky Category:Kentucky Wildcats football seasons Kentucky Wildcats football
