An election to Leitrim County Council took place on 27 June 1991 as part of that year's Irish local elections. 22 councillors were elected from four local electoral areas (LEAs) for a five-year term of office on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV). This term was extended twice, first to 1998, then to 1999.Local Government Act 1994 1994 8 20 Year of elections to all local authorities 29 April 1994Local Government Act 1998 1998 16 10 Amendment of section 20 of Act of 1994 29 May 1998Council Results https://irelandelection.com/council.php?elecid=171&tab=summary&detail=yes&electype=5&councilid=16&electype=5 irelandelection.com 2026-01-31
