They played their home games in New Rochelle, New York, at the Hynes Athletic Center, and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 23–12, 16–4 in MAAC play to finish in second place. They were champions of the MAAC women's tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA women's tournament, where they lost in the first round to Maryland. NCAA Invitation Iona has reached the conference championship game three times in the last decade. Each time, Marist prevailed, thwarting the Gales bid to in a conference championship and an invitation to the NCAA tournament. This year, Iona didn't face Marist, but faced Quinnipiac, a team who had defeated them twice in the regular-season. The third time, the result would be different — Iona opened up a 10-point lead at halftime and extended it in the second half to win 57–41 to earn their first ever invitation to the NCAA tournament.https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=400870281 Iona vs. Quinnipiac - Game Recap - March 7, 2016 - ESPN ESPN.com 2016-03-13 Roster 2015 Iona Gaels w y w Marina Lizarazu 01 G 5 8 JR Madrid w Aurellia Cammock 02 F 5 11 JR Brooklyn, NY w Kristin Mahoney 03 G 5 9 SO The Woodlands, TX w Karynda Dupree 10 F 6 4 SR Milwaukee, WI w Philecia Gilmore 11 G 5 7 SO Memphis, TN w Casey Wortley 12 F 6 2 SO Tucson, AZ w Alexis Lewis 20 G 5 10 FR Pittston, PA w Aaliyah Robinson 21 G 5 9 SR Branford, CT w Treyanna Clay 22 F 6 0 FR Tucson, AZ w Joy Adams 24 F 5 11 SR Orlando, FL w Cassidee Ranger 30 F 5 11 SR Chandler, AZ w Iida Ahvenainen 55 F 5 9 FR Kotka, Finland Billi Godsey (Hofstra) Ashlee Kelly (Quinnipiac) Tatiyiana McMorris (Marquette) Mandy Pennewell (Quinnipiac) http://www.icgaels.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=14900&SPID=7100&SPSID=64329 February 7, 2016 Schedule Source:http://www.icgaels.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=14900&SPID=7100&SPSID=64326 Women's Basketball - Schedule - ICGaels.com - Official website of Iona College Athletics www.icgaels.com 2016-03-13 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's basketball rankings 2015 yes yes |- !colspan=9 style="background:#712D3E; color:#FDB913;"| Regular Season 11/13/2015 7:00 pm yes yes Stony Brook Island Federal Credit Union Arena Stony Brook, NY 1,233 53–58 0–1 11/17/2015 7:00 pm yes VCU Hynes Athletic Center New Rochelle, NY 350 58–74 0–2 11/20/2015 8:30 pm yes yes Yale Carmichael Arena Chapel Hill, NC Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge 1,676 48–63 0–3 11/21/2015 3:00 pm yes yes North Carolina Carmichael Arena Chapel Hill, NC Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge 1,793 52–64 0–4 11/22/2015 1:00 pm yes yes Fairleigh Dickinson Carmichael Arena Chapel Hill, NC Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge 1,142 77–53 1–4 11/29/2015 12:00 pm yes yes USC Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, CT Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge 452 ESPN3 56–76 1–5 12/02/2015 7:00 pm yes Fairfield Alumni Hall Fairfield, CT 213 56–46 2–5 (1–0) 12/04/2015 7:00 pm Rider Hynes Athletic Center New Rochelle, NY 375 59–46 3–5 (2–0) 12/09/2015 7:00 pm yes yes Rutgers Louis Brown Athletic Center Piscataway, NJ 1,599 33–58 3–6 12/13/2015 2:00 pm yes North Texas Hynes Athletic Center New Rochelle, NY 503 62–51 4–6 12/17/2015 11:30 am yes yes Saint Joseph's Hagan Arena Philadelphia, PA 1,667 81–75 5–6 12/20/2015 12:00 pm yes yes George Washington Charles E.
