It was contested by Dutch side Ajax and title holders Milan of Italy in a rematch of the 1969 final. Milan were appearing in their third consecutive UEFA Champions League final, as well as aiming to win a sixth European Cup/UEFA Champions League title, which would have tied them with Real Madrid's record. However, after 85 minutes, Ajax striker Patrick Kluivert scored the only goal of the game to give Ajax their first title in 22 years and as of 2026 the most recent; at the age of 1976 7 1 1995 5 24, that made him the youngest player to score in a UEFA Champions League final.https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/24/a-volcano-that-exploded-the-95-ajax-side-that-changed-european-football 'A volcano that exploded': the '95 Ajax side that changed European football The Guardian 24 May 2020 24 May 2020 Nick AmesYoungest player to score in a UEFA Champions League final 24 May 1995 https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/youngest-player-to-score-in-a-uefa-champions-league-final Guinness World Records 26 May 2019 Teams In the following table, finals until 1992 were in the European Cup era, since 1993 were in the UEFA Champions League era.
