The Kenyan triumvirate of Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor, Paul Kipngetich Tanui and Bedan Karoki Muchiri took the race out, multiple 64 second laps breaking the race apart to the point that there were only two remaining stragglers, Farah and his American training partner Galen Rupp. Farah, Rupp and Tanui were all returning from top 5 finishes two years earlier. As the pace dropped, Farah briefly showed his intent to win with 3200, 1500 and 1200 to go, but each time Farah poked into the lead the Kenyan team quickly scrambled to retake the lead. Then with 500 metres to go to the finish, Farah boldly launched his long assault for the finish.https://www.theguardian.com/sport/live/2015/aug/22/world-athletics-championships-beijing-2015-live World Athletics Championships: Beijing 2015 – as it happened 22 August 2015 Guardian 2 September 2015 In championship races, long sprints to the finish usually lead to defeat as the more sprint inclined racers are able to run down the breakaway near the finish, but Farah held the lead as the three, then two Kenyan rivals jockeyed for position to catch him. In the final turn as he was maneuvering through traffic, Kipsang got close enough to clip Farah's heels, with Farah stumbling and almost falling.http://www.iaaf.org/news/report/beijing-2015-men-10000m REPORT: MEN'S 10,000M – IAAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, BEIJING 2015 22 August 2015 iaaf.org 2 September 2015 Farah stayed on his feet with Kipsang close behind, then Tanui managed to pull even with Kipsang through the final turn. Coming into the final straight, World Cross Country champion Kipsang looked like he would be able to swing around Farah to victory, but a determined Farah instead accelerated pulling away to a clear win, celebrating as he crossed the finish line. Farah's final lap time was 54.15. For the second time in a row, Tanui found himself in bronze medal position.https://www.bbc.com/sport/0/athletics/34026627 Mo Farah wins 10,000m World Championships gold 22 August 2015 BBC Sport 2 September 2015 Records Prior to the competition, the records were as follows:http://www.iaaf.org/records/by-discipline/middlelong/5000-metres/outdoor/men Records & Lists – 5000 meters IAAF 18 August 2015 World recordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:17.53Brussels, Belgium26 August 2005Championship recordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:46.31Berlin, Germany17 August 2009World LeadingMo Farah GBR26:50.97Eugene, OR, United States29 May 2015African RecordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:17.53Brussels, Belgium26 August 2005Asian RecordAhmad Hassan Abdullah QAT26:38.76Brussels, Belgium5 September 2003North, Central American and Caribbean recordGalen Rupp USA26:44.36Eugene, OR, United States30 May 2014South American RecordMarilson dos Santos BRA27:28.12Neerpelt, Belgium2 June 2007European RecordMo Farah GBR26:46.57Eugene, OR, United States3 June 2011Oceanian recordBen St Lawrence AUS27:24.95Palo Alto, CA, United States1 May 2011 Qualification standards Entry standards 2014 IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 – Standards http://media.aws.iaaf.org/competitioninfo/544c7d0a-0807-4226-a85b-79928c58a097.pdf IAAF 18 August 2015 27:45.00 Schedule Date Time Round22 August 2015 20:50 Final All times are local times (UTC+8) Results The race was started at 20:50.Final results Rank Name Nationality Time Notes Mo Farah GBR 2015 World 27:01.13 Geoffrey Kipsang KEN 2015 World 27:01.76 Paul Tanui KEN 2015 World 27:02.83 04 4 Bedan Karoki KEN 2015 World 27:04.77 SB05 5 Galen Rupp USA 2015 World 27:08.91 SB06 6 Abrar Osman ERI 2015 World 27:43.21 07 7 Ali Kaya TUR 2015 World 27:43.69 08 8 Timothy Toroitich UGA 2015 World 27:44.90 09 9 Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei UGA 2015 World 27:48.89 10 Muktar Edris ETH 2015 World 27:54.47 11 Mosinet Geremew ETH 2015 World 28:07.50 12 El Hassan El-Abbassi BHR 2015 World 28:12.57 13 Nguse Tesfaldet ERI 2015 World 28:14.72 14 Cameron Levins CAN 2015 World 28:15.19 15 Hassan Mead USA 2015 World 28:16.30 16 Shadrack Kipchirchir USA 2015 World 28:16.30 SB17 Arne Gabius GER 2015 World 28:24.47 18 Tetsuya Yoroizaka JPN 2015 World 28:25.77 19 Teklemariam Medhin ERI 2015 World 28:39.26 SB20 Stephen Mokoka RSA 2015 World 28:47.40 21 Aweke Ayalew BHR 2015 World 29:14.55 PB22 Kenta Murayama JPN 2015 World 29:50.22 23 Yuta Shitara JPN 2015 World 30:08.35 24 Bashir Abdi BEL 2015 World 99:99.99 DNF 24 Ismail Juma TAN 2015 World 99:99.99 DNF 24 Imane Merga ETH 2015 World 99:99.99 DNF 24 Moses Kibet UGA 2015 World 99:99.99 DNF References 10,000 Category:10,000 metres at the World Athletics Championships
