It was the sixth Canada Cup event, which became the World Cup in 1967. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 32 teams. These were the same 30 teams that had competed in 1957 without Thailand but with the addition of Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Irish team of Harry Bradshaw and Christy O'Connor Snr won by three strokes over the Spanish team of Ángel Miguel and Sebastián Miguel. The individual competition was won by Ángel Miguel, who beat Harry Bradshaw at the third hole of a sudden-death playoff. The Times 24 November 1958 3 Ireland beat Spain in Canada Cup golf Teams Country Players Fidel de Luca and Leopoldo Ruiz Kel Nagle and Frank Phillips Donald Swaelens and Flory Van Donck BRA 1889 Mário Gonzalez and Luis Rapisarda CAN 1957 Al Balding and Henry Martell Luciano Calderon and Enrique Orellana TWN China Chen Ching-po and Hsieh Yung-yo Pablo Molina and Miguel Sala Henning Kristensen and Carl Paulsen Lee Holbrook and Eduardo Miartus EGY 1958 Naaman Aly and Mohamed Said Moussa Peter Alliss and Bernard Hunt Jean Baptiste Ado and Jean Garaïalde Friedrich Becker and Georg Bessner Harry Bradshaw and Christy O'Connor Snr Alfonso Angelini and Aldo Casera JPN 1947 Torakichi Nakamura and Koichi Ono MEX 1934 José González and Juan Neri Cees Cramer and Gerard de Wit Frank Buckler and Ernie Southerden Eugenio Dunezat and Alex Tibbles PHL 1936 Ben Arda and Celestino Tugot Henrique Paulino and Fernando Silva Eric Brown and John Panton ZAF 1928 Harold Henning and Gary Player KOR 1949 Kim Bok-man and Park Myeong-chul ESP 1945 Ángel Miguel and Sebastián Miguel Harry Karlsson and Arne Werkell Jacky Bonvin and Otto Schoepfer USA 1912 Ben Hogan and Sam Snead VEN 1930 Manolo Bernandez and Teobaldo Perez WAL 1953 Dai Rees and Dave Thomas Friedrich Becker and Georg Bessner The Times 21 November 1958 3 Australia take early lead in Canada Cup golf Gerard de Wit, representing the Netherlands, never reached Mexico after the plane he was travelling in developed engine problems.http://nha.courant.nu/issue/HD/1958-11-20/edition/null/page/13 Golf - Gerard de Wit niet naar Mexico-City Cees Cramer played as an individual.
