Olympic Champion Mo Farah dropped to last place in the early stages, later there occasions when he would go to the front of the pack, though he made no effort to quicken the pace from the lead. With the lead pack down to about 10, with a kilometer to go, American Dathan Ritzenhein charged around the pack and into the lead. That woke up the rest of the contenders, quickly swallowing up Ritzenhein's effort. After some jockeying by a host of contenders, Farah seized the lead just before the last lap. Down the backstretch, the remaining contenders, Ibrahim Jeilan, Paul Tanui and Galen Rupp sprinted to keep up with Farah and rounding the final turn, defending champion Jeilan seemed to be moving into position to repeat his sprint past Farah to the finish. But unlike 2011, Farah had an extra gear to hold off Jeilan, crossing the line holding his hands high, before doing his post race "Mobot" dance.https://www.espn.com/olympics/trackandfield/story/_/id/9556567/mo-farah-wins-10000-worlds Farah wins 10,000; Bolt rolls into 100 final 10 August 2013 The 27:21.71 sets a new Russian all comers record.http://trackside2013.wordpress.com/2013/08/07/russian-all-comers-records/ Russian all-comers' records 7 August 2013 Records Prior to the competition, the records were as follows:http://www.iaaf.org/records/by-discipline/hurdles/10000-metres/outdoor/men Records & Lists – 10,000 meters IAAF 8 August 2013 World recordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:17.53Brussels, Belgium26 August 2005Championship recordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:46.31Berlin, Germany17 August 2009World LeadingDejen Gebremeskel ETH26:51.02Sollentuna, Sweden27 June 2013African RecordKenenisa Bekele ETH26:17.53Brussels, Belgium26 August 2005Asian RecordAhmad Hassan Abdullah QAT26:38.76Brussels, Belgium5 September 2003North, Central American and Caribbean recordGalen Rupp USA26:48.00Brussels, Belgium16 September 2011South American RecordMarilson dos Santos BRA27:28.12Neerpelt, Belgium2 June 2007European RecordMo Farah GBR26:46.57Eugene, OR, United States3 June 2011Oceanian recordBen St. Lawrence AUS27:24.95Palo Alto, CA, United States1 May 2011 Qualification standards A time 2012 IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013 – Standards http://www.mos2013.ru/en/competition/team_manual/ All Russia Athletic Federation 8 August 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20130816102153/http://www.mos2013.ru/en/competition/team_manual 16 August 2013 dead dmy-allB time 27:40.00 28:05.00 Schedule Date Time Round10 August 2013 18:55 Final All times are local times (UTC+4) Results KEY:NRNational recordPBPersonal bestSBSeasonal best Final The race was started at 18:55.Final Results thumb|10000 m men finish Rank Name Nationality Time Notes Mo Farah Great Britain 2013 World 27:21.71 SB Ibrahim Jeilan Ethiopia 2013 World 27:22.23 SB Paul Kipngetich Tanui Kenya 2013 World 27:22.61 04 4 Galen Rupp United States 2013 World 27:24.39 SB 05 5 Abera Kuma Ethiopia 2013 World 27:25.27 06 6 Bedan Karoki Kenya 2013 World 27:27.17 07 7 Kenneth Kipkemoi Kenya 2013 World 27:28.50 SB 08 8 Nguse Amlosom Eritrea 2013 World 27:29.21 SB 09 9 Mohammed Ahmed Canada 2013 World 27:35.76 SB 10 Dathan Ritzenhein United States 2013 World 27:37.90 SB 11 Thomas Ayeko Uganda 2013 World 27:40.96 PB 12 Imane Merga Ethiopia 2013 World 27:42.02 13 Moses Ndiema Kipsiro Uganda 2013 World 27:44.53 SB 14 Cameron Levins Canada 2013 World 27:47.89 SB 15 Tsuyoshi Ugachi Japan 2013 World 27:50.79 SB 16 Dejen Gebremeskel Ethiopia 2013 World 27:51.88 17 Goitom Kifle Eritrea 2013 World 27:56.38 18 Chris Derrick United States 2013 World 28:04.54 SB 19 Daniele Meucci Italy 2013 World 28:06.74 SB 20 Stephen Mokoka South Africa 2013 World 28:11.61 21 Suguru Osako Japan 2013 World 28:19.50 22 Timothy Toroitich Uganda 2013 World 28:33.61 23 Bashir Abdi Belgium 2013 World 28:41.69 24 Collis Birmingham Australia 2013 World 28:44.82 SB 25 Yevgeny Rybakov Russia 2013 World 28:47.49 26 Jake Robertson New Zealand 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Polat Kemboi Arıkan Turkey 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Juan Luis Barrios Mexico 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Alemu Bekele Bahrain 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Teklemariam Medhin Eritrea 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Yuki Sato Japan 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 26 Robert Kajuga Rwanda 2013 World 99:99.98 DNF 27 Ben St Lawrence Australia 2013 World 99:99.99 DNS 27 Ali Hasan Mahbood Bahrain 2013 World 99:99.99 DNS 27 Mukhlid Al-Otaibi Saudi Arabia 2013 World 99:99.99 DNS References External links 10000 metres results at IAAF website 10000 Category:10,000 metres at the World Athletics Championships
