The Soviet government, an ally to Lumumba, blamed the Belgian secret service as the instigator of his murder in the former Belgian colony, and this translated into several riots in the communist countries against the Belgian interests. Since the second leg could not be played, Antwerpse received a 2–0 w.o. in this game and qualified for the next round.Champions Cup 1960–61 Automatically qualified to the quarter-finals URS 1955 Rīgas ASK (title holder) Quarterfinals Rīgas ASK URS 1955 162–134 Hapoel Tel Aviv ISR 84–60 78–74 1 Spartak Praha Sokolovo TCH 107–115 CCA București ROM 1952 60–50 47–65 2 Legia Warsaw POL 145–183 CSKA Moscow URS 1955 72-98 73-85 2 Antwerpse BEL 128–177 Real Madrid ESP 1945 62-89 66-88 2 |} Semifinals Real Madrid ESP 1945 123–141 Rīgas ASK URS 1955 78-75 45-66 2 CSKA Moscow URS 1955 171–115 CCA București ROM 1952 98–58 73–57 1 |} Finals CSKA Moscow URS 1955 148–128 Rīgas ASK URS 1955 87-62 61-66 1 |} 1st leg:Daugava Stadion, Rīga, 14 July 1961; Attendance:8,000 2nd leg:Lenin Stadion, Moscow, 22 July 1961; Attendance:15,000 1960–61 FIBA European Champions CupChampionsURS 1955 100px CSKA Moscow 1st Title Awards FIBA European Champions Cup Finals Top Scorer URS 1955 Viktor Zubkov (URS 1955 CSKA Moscow) References External links 1960-61 FIBA European Champions Cup Review & Statistics 1960–61 FIBA European Champions Cup 1960–61 FIBA European Champions Cup https://web.archive.org/web/20170321082832/http://sathanasias.bravepages.com/b-res/b-1961-results.html#FIBA%20Champions'%20Cup 2017-03-21 1960–61 FIBA European Champions Cup Champions Cup 1960–61 Line-ups and Stats FIBA 1960-61
