The Men's 110 metres hurdles at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Daegu Stadium on August 28 and 29. Summary The final featured the three fastest 110 hurdlers in history. World Record Holder Dayron Robles took an early lead but was being passed by former record holder Liu Xiang. Between the last two hurdles, Robles' right arm backswing caught Liu's oncoming left arm. Liu hit the tenth hurdle, with a second arm collision with Robles, slowing Liu enough to finish in third. Robles crossed the finish line first, but after the race, the Chinese team protested and Robles was disqualified under IAAF Rule 163.2 for obstruction, giving the championship to second finisher Jason Richardson.http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/athletics/14707816.stm Dayron Robles disqualified August 29, 2011 BBC Sport August 30, 2011 Andy Turner was separated from David Oliver in a photo finish for the bronze medal, both receiving the same time. 5th place in the race was also so close the photo could not separate the two competitors.https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/athletics/turner-gets-his-hands-on-bronze-after-touch-robs-robles-of-gold-2345889.html Turner gets his hands on bronze after touch robs Robles of gold August 30, 2011 The Independent UK August 30, 2011 November 12, 2012 https://web.archive.org/web/20121112014301/http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/athletics/turner-gets-his-hands-on-bronze-after-touch-robs-robles-of-gold-2345889.html dead Medalists GoldSilverBronzeJason RichardsonUSA 2011 WorldLiu XiangChina 2011 WorldAndy TurnerGreat Britain 2011 World Records World recordDayron Robles CUB12.87Ostrava, Czech RepublicJune 12, 2008Championship recordColin Jackson GBR12.91Stuttgart, GermanyAugust 20, 1993World leadingDavid Oliver USA12.94Eugene, United StatesJune 4, 2011African recordShaun Bownes RSA13.26Heusden, NetherlandsJuly 14, 2001Asian recordLiu Xiang CHN12.88Lausanne, SwitzerlandJuly 11, 2006North, Central American and Caribbean recordDayron Robles CUB12.87Ostrava, Czech RepublicJune 12, 2008South American recordRedelén dos Santos BRA13.29Lisbon, PortugalJune 13, 2004European recordColin Jackson GBR12.91Stuttgart, GermanyAugust 20, 1993Oceanian recordKyle Vander Kuyp AUS13.29Gothenburg, SwedenAugust 11, 1995 Qualification standards A timeB time 13.52 13.60 Schedule Date Time RoundAugust 28, 2011 09:50 HeatsAugust 29, 2011 19:00 SemifinalsAugust 29, 2011 21:25 Final Results KEY:qFastest non-qualifiersQQualifiedNRNational recordPBPersonal bestSBSeasonal best Heats Qualification: First 3 in each heat (Q) and the next 4 fastest (q) advance to the semifinals.
