Led by second-year head coach Sean Kugler, the Miners compiled an overall record of 7–6 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, tying for second place in C-USA's West Division. UTEP was invited to the New Mexico Bowl, where the Miners lost to Utah State. The team played home games at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
