1996 Davis Cup Americas Zone Group I

none 1996 Davis Cup Americas Zone The Americas Zone was one of the three regional Davis Cup competition zones in 1996. In the Americas Zone, there were three different tiers, called groups, in which teams competed against each other to advance to the upper tier. Winners in Group I advanced to the World Group qualifying round, along with losing teams from the World Group first round. Teams that lost their respective ties competed in the relegation play-offs, with the winning teams remaining in Group I. In contrast, teams who lost their play-offs were relegated to the Americas Zone Group II in 1997.https://www.daviscup.com/en/draws-results/historic-format/group-i/americas.aspx#/1996 1996 Americas Group I DavisCup.com 11 June 2020 Participating nations 30em ARG BAH BRA CAN CHI PER VEN 1930 Draw y 4 175 Second Round Play-offs First Round Play-offs First Round Second Round 20–22 September 5–7 April 9–11 February 5–7 April Nassau, Bahamas (hard) PER 2 BAH 3 Santiago, Chile (clay) BRA 3 CHI 2 Valencia, Venezuela (hard) CAN 2 VEN 1930 3 Edmonton, Canada (indoor carpet) CHI 2 CAN 3 Mar del Plata, Argentina (clay) ARG 4 BAH 1 Santos, Brazil (clay) BRA 4 VEN 1930 1 Santiago, Chile (clay) PER 0 CHI 5 PER was relegated to Group II in 1997.
