The league comprised five teams, and Glentoran won the championship for the 6th time. Season summary Although the Dublin-based teams that had competed the previous season had withdrawn from the league for this edition, this was the final season in which the Irish Football Association/Irish League had jurisdiction over the entire island of Ireland. The partition of Ireland process began in May 1921, and the League of Ireland was subsequently founded as an equivalent league competition for teams in Southern Ireland (present-day Republic of Ireland) for the following season. The Irish League continued as the highest level of league competition solely for teams based in Northern Ireland.Football in Northern Ireland: A Statistical Record 1881-2005 Alex Graham 2005 38–39 Teams and locations County Down right 300 Location of teams in the 1920–21 Irish League County Down 54.602945 -5.891278 Belfast right County Down 54.453889 -6.336389 Glenavon right County Down TransparentPlaceholder.png 1 54.7 -6.48 Belfast teamsCliftonvilleDistilleryGlentoranLinfield Greater Belfast right 300 Location of Belfast teams in the 1920–21 Irish League Greater Belfast 54.619250 -5.947383 left Cliftonville Greater Belfast 54.60270 -5.893478 right Glentoran Greater Belfast 54.57083 -5.963302 bottom Linfield Greater Belfast TransparentPlaceholder.png 1 54.69 -6.18 No home groundDistillery Team Town Home Ground Cliftonville Belfast Solitude Distillery No home ground Glenavon Lurgan Mourneview Park Glentoran Belfast The Oval Linfield Belfast Windsor Park League standings main WDL 5 Result 2 y C green1 Champions C GLT Glentoran GLV Glenavon LIN Linfield CLI Cliftonville DIS Distillery 7 0 1 20 6 5 2 1 14 8 3 3 2 8 6 1 1 6 5 15 1 0 7 7 19 complete rsssf.com Results main FBR grey CLI DIS GLV GLT LIN Glentoran 3–0 1–0 2–0 5–1 Glenavon 3–1 0–0 3–0 4–3 Linfield 2–3 1–1 3–1 1–1 Cliftonville 0–2 0–2 0–0 4–1 Distillery 0–3 0–1 0–1 2–0 complete Irish League Archive References External links Northern Ireland - List of final tables (RSSSF) Association football Northern Ireland Category:NIFL Premiership seasons North Irish
