It was the seventh Canada Cup event, which became the World Cup in 1967. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 30 teams. These were the same teams that had competed in 1958 but without Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela and with the addition of Indonesia. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Australian team of Kel Nagle and Peter Thomson won by 10 strokes over the American team of Cary Middlecoff and Sam Snead. The individual competition was won by Canadian Stan Leonard, who beat Peter Thomson at the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=XOo-AAAAIBAJ&sjid=-EwMAAAAIBAJ&pg=6277%2C3054337 Australians easily win team championship The Glasgow Herald 23 November 1959 10 Teams Country Players Fidel de Luca and Leopoldo Ruiz Kel Nagle and Peter Thomson Donald Swaelens and Flory Van Donck BRA 1889 José Maria Gonzalez and Mário Gonzalez CAN 1957 Al Balding and Stan Leonard Luciano Calderon and Enrique Orellana TWN China Chen Ching-Po and Hsieh Yung-yo Pablo Molina and Miguel Sala Henning Kristensen and Carl Paulsen EGY 1958 Cherif El-Sayed Cherif and Mohamed Said Moussa Peter Alliss and Bernard Hunt Roger Cotton and François Saubaber Salim and Sjamsudin Harry Bradshaw and Christy O'Connor Snr Alfonso Angelini and Ugo Grappasonni JPN 1947 Torakichi Nakamura and Haruyoshi Kobari MEX 1934 Roberto De Vicenzo and Juan Neri Gerard de Wit and Joop Rühl Frank Buckler and John Kelly PHL 1936 Vic Allin and Larry Montes Henrique Paulino and F De Silva Pina Eric Brown and John Panton ZAF 1928 Harold Henning and Gary Player KOR 1949 Kim Hark Young and Park Myeong-chul ESP 1945 Ángel Miguel and Sebastián Miguel Åke Bergquist and Harry Karlsson Jacky Bonvin and Otto Schoepfer USA 1959 Cary Middlecoff and Sam Snead Dai Rees and Dave Thomas Friedrich Becker and Herbert Becker Source Scores Team Place Country Score To par1 137-139-144-143=563 +32 USA 1959 145-140-148-140=573 +133 CAN 1957 144-139-144-147=574 +144 ZAF 1928 144-147-142-147=580 +205 150-145-146-147=588 +286 144-143-154-149=590 +307 158-147-146-144=595 +358 TWN China 152-152-146-147=597 +37T9 151-153-150-147=601 +41 ESP 1945 152-145-147-157=60111 152-151-151-148=602 +4212 150-148-151-154=603 +4313 JPN 1947 147-148-148-162=605 +4514 155-150-150-153=608 +4815 151-152-154-152=609 +4916 BRA 1889 151-157-152-159=619 +59T17 157-154-145-166=622 +62 MEX 1934 154-149-160-159=622 154-155-153-160=62220 155-152-160-158=625 +6521 EGY 1958 160-157-157-157=631 +7122 159-149-160-169=637 +7723 168-154-168-161=651 +91T24 165-156-164-167=652 +92 164-161-163-164=65226 166-161-161-166=654 +9427 PHL 1936 173-166-159-157=655 +9528 167-165-161-165=658 +9829 KOR 1949 166-162-162-172=662 +10230 185-181-179-181=726 +166 Source International Trophy Place Player Country Score To par1 Stan Leonard CAN 1957 70-66-69-70=275 −52 Peter Thomson 67-69-68-71=275 −53 Sam Snead 73-65-73-70=281 +14 Gary Player ZAF 1928 72-72-71-69=284 +45 Kel Nagle 70-70-76-72=288 +8T6 Eric Brown 78-72-75-67=292 +12Chen Ching-Po TWN China 76-73-71-72=292Cary Middlecoff 72-75-75-70=292Flory Van Donck 70-75-75-72=29210 Peter Alliss 73-74-70-76=293 +13 Leonard beat Thomson with a par 4 at the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
