The Dragons were led by 2nd year head coach Walter Halas. Drexel planned to open their season at the newly constructed Curtis Hall Gym on December 19, 1928, against Penn, however construction was not complete in time, and the game was moved to Palestra. The team began the season playing home games at Main Building, as they had the previous season, and informally opened Curtis Hall Gym on January 9, 1929, against Philadelphia Osteopathic, playing in the unfinished gym.New Gym Informally Opened by Osteopathy Game https://services.library.drexel.edu/static_files/triangle/Drexel-Triangle_1929-01-16.pdf The Triangle 24 March 2017 1 16 January 1929 Roster 1928 Drexel Dragons y yes m Curtis Dobbins C Jr Haddonfield, NJ Haddonfield Memorial HS C Al Eckelmeyer G Fr Philadelphia, PA Northeast HS (PA) John Johnson Fr John Kerkpatrick Leo Redmond Albert Tucker F Jr Philadelphia, PA Germantown HS Albert Hey G South Philadelphia HS Marnie C Shuipis F Walter Halas (Illinois) Schedule Completion of New Gym Hoped for by Middle of December https://services.library.drexel.edu/static_files/triangle/Drexel-Triangle_1928-10-17.pdf The Triangle 24 March 2017 1,4 Newspaper 17 October 1928 yes yes yes yes yes |- !colspan=9 style="background:#F8B800; color:#002663;"| Regular season |- December 1, 1928 yes 1928–29 men Hahnemann Medical College Hahnemann Medical College Hahnemann 59–20 1–0 Main Building Philadelphia, PA December 5, 1928 yes 1928–29 men Philadelphia Rams Philadelphia University Philadelphia Textile w – 2–0 Main Building Philadelphia, PA December 8, 1928 yes yes 1928–29 men Princeton Tigers Princeton University Princeton 17–29 2–1 December 19, 1928 yes 8:30pm yes 1928–29 men Penn Quakers University of Pennsylvania Penn Battle of 33rd Street 14–35 2–2 Palestra Philadelphia, PA January 5, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Rutgers Scarlet Knights Rutgers University Rutgers 23–42 2–3 Dobbins 8 New Brunswick, NJ January 9, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Philadelphia Osteopathic 42–23 3–3 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA January 12, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Gettysburg Bullets Gettysburg College Gettysburg 32–45 3–4 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA January 16, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens University of Delaware Delaware 34–26 4–4 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA January 19, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Swarthmore Garnet Swarthmore College Swarthmore 20–30 4–5 January 23, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Washington Shoremen Washington College Washington (MD) 22–38 4–6 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA January 26, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Brooklyn Polytech Polytechnic Institute of New York University Brooklyn Polytech 21–28 4–7 Tied 5 January 30, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Upsala College Upsala College Upsala 25–24 5–7 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA February 2, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Albright College Lions Albright College Schuykill 34–37 5–8 Tied Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA February 16, 1929 no 1928–29 men Haverford Fords Haverford College Haverford 27–25 OT 6–8 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA February 20, 1929 yes 1928–29 men Pennsylvania Military Cadets Widener University Pennsylvania Military College 30–18 7–8 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA February 22, 1929 yes Brooklyn Polytech 23–18 8–8 Curtis Hall Gym Philadelphia, PA February 23, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Muhlenberg Mules Muhlenberg College Muhlenberg 38–34 OT 9–8 Allentown, PA March 1, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Susquehanna Crusaders Susquehanna University Susquehanna 30–28 10–8 Hey 11 Selinsgrove, PA March 2, 1929 yes yes 1928–29 men Juniata Eagles Juniata College Juniata 22–27 10–9 Eckelmeyer 7 Huntingdon, PA yes AP Eastern Time References Category:Drexel Dragons men's basketball seasons Drexel Category:1928 in sports in Pennsylvania Category:1929 in sports in Pennsylvania Category:1928 in Philadelphia Category:1929 in Philadelphia Category:Long stubs with short prose
