Santa Fe won their fourth league title. Background and league system 14 teams competed in the tournament: the same 13 teams from the previous tournament as well as Junior, who returned to the competition after a 13-year absence with the bulk of the team that made up the Colombia national football team during the qualification tournament for the 1966 FIFA World Cup. The tournament was once again played under a round-robin format, with every team playing each other four times (twice at home and twice away) for a total of 52 matches. Teams received two points for a win and one point for a draw. If two or more teams were tied on points, places were determined by goal difference. The team with the most points became the champion of the league. 364 matches were played during the season, with a total of 1188 goals scored. Santa Fe won the championship for the fourth time, the runners-up were Independiente Medellín. Both teams qualified for the 1967 Copa Libertadores, marking the return of Colombian clubs to the competition after FIFA lifted the two-year suspension on the Colombian Football Federation due to the conflict between the FIFA-recognized Asociación de Fútbol Colombiano (Adefútbol) and DIMAYOR. Argentine player Omar Devani, who played for Santa Fe, was the season's top goalscorer with 31 goals.Ruíz Bonilla Guillermo La gran historia del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano 2008 Ediciones Dayscript 978-958-987-1300 Teams Team City Stadium América de Cali Cali Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero Atlético Bucaramanga Bucaramanga Estadio Alfonso López Atlético Nacional Medellín Estadio Atanasio Girardot Cúcuta Deportivo Cúcuta Estadio General Santander Deportes Quindío Armenia Estadio San José de Armenia Deportes Tolima Ibagué Estadio Serrano de Ávila Deportivo Cali Cali Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero Deportivo Pereira Pereira Estadio Alberto Mora Mora Independiente Medellín Medellín Estadio Atanasio Girardot Junior Barranquilla Estadio Romelio Martínez Millonarios Bogotá Estadio El Campín Once Caldas Manizales Estadio Fernando Londoño Londoño Santa Fe Bogotá Estadio El Campín Unión Magdalena Santa Marta Estadio Eduardo Santos Standings main WDL QR 2 SFE Santa Fe DIM Independiente Medellín PER Deportivo Pereira ONC Once Caldas MIL Millonarios CAL Deportivo Cali CUC Cúcuta Deportivo JUN Junior MAG Unión Magdalena AME América de Cali BUC Atlético Bucaramanga NAC Atlético Nacional TOL Deportes Tolima QUI Deportes Quindío 25 16 11 102 76 C 25 13 14 106 73 24 13 15 91 83 24 11 17 101 83 23 12 17 98 88 20 15 17 83 76 19 16 17 77 72 21 11 20 94 88 21 10 21 76 80 16 16 20 60 69 13 16 23 71 89 15 11 26 81 103 15 11 26 74 98 12 11 29 74 110 green1 1967 Copa Libertadores CL CL complete RSSSF Results Matchdays 1-26 Home\AwayAMEBUCCALCUCJUNMAGDIMMILNACONCPERQUISFETOLAmérica—1–11–13–11–01–01–11–20–01–30–22–23–33–0Bucaramanga1–2—0–21–13–11–22–31–22–11–13–20–20–03–1Cali2–23–1—3–33–11–20–04–12–11–03–11–01–23–1Cúcuta1–11–04–2—2–21–13–02–21–11–02–12–01–00–2Junior2–04–33–01–3—0–01–22–20–01–01–11–04–34–1Magdalena2–02–00–10–01–2—0–01–03–14–25–32–12–21–0Medellín0–27–12–03–13–31–0—1–23–10–03–11–02–25–2Millonarios2–03–43–02–11–16–11–2—3–22–21–14–20–12–1Nacional2–14–22–12–23–41–02–12–5—5–02–31–30–10–3Caldas0–12–22–23–24–32–12–14–22–1—3–34–00–11–0Pereira0–03–22–01–01–12–11–12–05–11–2—1–01–04–4Quindío0–22–23–32–10–12–21–41–22–14–51–0—0–31–0Santa Fe3–13–01–32–23–13–23–11–23–11–24–13–4—4–1Tolima1–13–11–03–10–03–22–21–11–12–00–12–32–1— Matchdays 27-52 Home\AwayAMEBUCCALCUCJUNMAGDIMMILNACONCPERQUISFETOLAmérica—2–10–01–00–41–21–22–13–02–00–20–30–03–1Bucaramanga3–1—2–34–03–21–00–00–21–01–12–00–01–23–0Cali0–01–1—1–13–00–05–22–21–22–11–13–11–12–0Cúcuta2–13–22–0—3–14–12–00–10–01–23–35–12–00–0Junior4–22–00–21–0—1–03–12–01–31–22–27–10–03–2Magdalena2–10–14–23–02–1—2–11–10–20–23–13–13–11–2Medellín1–12–23–23–01–01–1—6–03–12–05–15–22–35–1Millonarios0–10–03–20–13–20–12–1—6–14–32–15–31–32–0Nacional1–11–11–10–22–37–20–23–2—3–24–12–01–14–2Caldas0–12–22–12–04–17–33–05–25–1—2–12–22–21–1Pereira2–13–03–12–23–22–12–11–02–10–1—3–22–22–1Quindío2–11–10–11–24–21–10–13–32–21–01–2—2–21–2Santa Fe2–11–01–33–34–22–14–42–22–03–22–22–1—3–1Tolima2–22–24–11–01–31–21–31–14–13–21–33–20–1— Top goalscorers Rank Name Club Goals 1ARG alt Omar DevaniSanta Fe 31 2ARG alt Osvaldo PérezOnce Caldas 29 3URU Walter SosaCúcuta Deportivo 28 4COL Antonio RadaJunior 27 5URU José Omar VerdúnCúcuta Deportivo 21BRA Wagner RodríguezUnión MagdalenaCOL Delio GamboaSanta Fe 8BRA DidaJunior 20COL Hermán AcerosIndependiente MedellínBRA Eduardo LimaMillonarios Source: RSSSF.com Colombia 1966 References External links Dimayor official website Category:1966 in Colombian football Colombia Category:Categoría Primera A seasons
