"Pussy Cats" Starring the Walkmen is a studio album by the American rock band the Walkmen, released on October 24, 2006, by Record Collection. The album is a song-for-song cover of the 1974 Harry Nilsson album Pussy Cats which was produced by John Lennon.
The decision to cover the Pussy Cats album, which is a band favourite, started off as a joke that evolved into a full-fledged album released only 5 months after their previous record, A Hundred Miles Off.Amy Phillips The Walkmen Talk New Album, Other Projects http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/2006/2/15/The_Walkmen_Talk_New_Album_Other_Projects#35900 https://web.archive.org/web/20080128181121/http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/2006/2/15/The_Walkmen_Talk_New_Album_Other_Projects#35900 dead January 28, 2008 Pitchfork February 15, 2006 2007-01-02 mdy-all Amy Phillips Walkmen Talk Pussy Cats; Exclusive Stream http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/37912/Walkmen_Talk_Pussy_Cats_Exclusive_Stream Pitchfork August 14, 2006 2007-01-02 https://web.archive.org/web/20061111174529/http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/37912/Walkmen_Talk_Pussy_Cats_Exclusive_Stream November 11, 2006 The album also served as a last project for the band's studio, Marcata Recording.
