Entry into the race can also be obtained through a random allocation lottery or through the Ironman's charitable eBay auction.Qualification http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/qualification/ World Triathlon Corporation 2 December 2010 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20110713060727/http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/qualification/ 13 July 2011 http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/qualification/ Ironman World Championship Qualification 20 September 2011 World Triathlon Corporation dead https://web.archive.org/web/20110713060727/http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/qualification/ 13 July 2011 For professional triathletes, the 2011 Championship season marks the first year of a point system that determines which professional triathletes will qualify for the championship race. To qualify, points are earned by competing in WTC sanctioned Ironman and selected Ironman 70.3 events throughout the qualifying year. For the 2011 race that period was September 12, 2010 to August 31, 2011. The top 50 male and top 30 female pros in points at the end of each qualifying year qualify to race in Kona. Prior champions receive an automatic entry for the Championship race for a period of five years after their last championship performance provided that they compete in at least one full-distance Ironman race during the qualifying year.Krabel Herbert 2011 Kona Pro Qualification Rules http://www.slowtwitch.com/News/2011_Kona_pro_qualification_rules_1457.html Slowtwitch.com 2 December 2010 26 July 2010 The Ironman 2011 Series consisted of 22 Ironman races plus the Ironman World Championship 2010 which was itself a qualifier for the 2011 Ironman World Championship. The Tianjin Sports Bureau (TSB) was unable to obtain the required sanctions from the China Triathlon Sports Association (CTSA) to conduct the event. Murphy Reinschreiber, managing director of the Asia Pacific region for WTC stated that "TSB simply failed to provide all of the documentation necessary for CTSA to process the sanction." WTC is offering a full refund of entry fees to all athletes who were scheduled to compete at Ironman China and Ironman 70.3 China. Additionally, all athletes were offered a complimentary race entry into any of the 2011 Ironman and Ironman 70.3 races. WTC is allocating the age group qualifying slots from Ironman China and Ironman 70.3 China to other races in the region to ensure that athletes from the Asia-Pacific region are represented at the 2011 World Championship events.http://www.everymantri.com/everyman_triathlon/2011/05/ironman-china-cancelled-triathletes-give-refund-or-comp-race-entries-.html Ironman China cancelled triathletes give refund or comp race entries 12 May 2011 12 May 2011 Everymantri.com 2011 Ironman Series results Men Event Gold Time Silver Time Bronze Time ReferenceWisconsin Joe Gambles AUS 8:38:32 Romain Guillaume FRA 8:49:42 Eric Bean USA 8:51:36http://ironman.com/events/ironman/wisconsin/?show=tracker&race=wisconsin&year=2010 Wisconsin 2010 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011 World Champs 2010Chris McCormack AUS 8:10:37Andreas Raelert GER 8:12:17Marino Vanhoenacker BEL 8:13:14http://ironman.com/events/ironman/worldchampionship/?show=tracker&race=worldchampionship&year=2010 2010 Ironman World Championships World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011FloridaJames Cunnama RSA 8:15:59Pedro Gomes POR 8:19:26Dirk Bockel LUX 8:21:23http://ironman.com/events/ironman/florida/?show=tracker&race=florida&year=2010 Florida 2010 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011ArizonaTimo Bracht GER 8:07:16Rasmus Henning DEN 8:10:58Tom Lowe GBR 8:11:44http://ironman.com/events/ironman/arizona/?show=tracker&race=arizona&year=2010 Arizona 2010 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011CozumelAndy Potts USA 8:16:14Michael Lovato USA 8:22:17Eduardo Sturla ARG 8:24:14http://ironman.com/events/ironman/cozumel/?show=tracker&race=cozumel&year=2010 Cozumel 2010 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011 23 January 2012 https://web.archive.org/web/20120123160025/http://ironman.com/events/ironman/cozumel/?show=tracker&race=cozumel&year=2010 deadWestern AustraliaCourtney Ogden AUS 8:14:01Matty White AUS 8:18:06Pete Jacobs AUS 8:21:16http://ironman.com/events/ironman/westernaustralia/?show=tracker&race=westernaustralia&year=2010 Western Australia 2010 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011New ZealandCameron Brown NZL 8:31:07Terenzo Bozzone NZL 8:41:51Mathias Hecht SUI 8:45:36http://ironman.com/events/ironman/newzealand/?show=tracker&race=newzealand&year=2011 New Zealand 2011 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011South AfricaRaynard Tissink RSA 8:05:36Andreas Boecherer GER 8:08:36James Cunnama RSA 8:13:18http://ironman.com/events/ironman/southafrica/?show=tracker&race=southafrica&year=2011 South Africa 2011 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011AustraliaPete Jacobs AUS 8:29:28Patrick Vernay GER 8:35:50Jason Shortis AUS 8:46:07http://ironman.com/events/ironman/australia/?show=tracker&race=australia&year=2011 Australia 2011 World Triathlon Corporation 28 September 2011St. GeorgeMathias Hecht SUI 8:32:03Maik Twelsiek GER 8:33:46T.
