The 2011 recruiting class was ranked No. 13 by Scout.com and No. 11 by both Rivals.com and ESPNU. The class was celebrated for its talent and depth, and is the second class in a row that has revived top-15 national rankings. Six true freshman; Tracy Abrams, Myke Henry, Devin Langford, Nnanna Egwu, Mike Shaw, and Ibby Djimde as well as one transfer senior, Sam Maniscalco joined the 2011–12 team. Maniscalso transferred from Bradley University after graduating in May 2011. Because Bradley did not offer the graduate program he enrolled in at Illinois, Maniscalco was eligible to play immediately.http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/ill/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/2011-12/misc_non_event/2011-12_Illini_MBK_RecordBook.pdf 2011-12 Illinois Basketball Record Book University of Illinois October 14, 2011 University of Illinois December 28, 2011 December 16, 2011 https://web.archive.org/web/20111216025829/http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/ill/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/2011-12/misc_non_event/2011-12_Illini_MBK_RecordBook.pdf dead 2011 Recruiting Class no no 2011 Tracy Abrams PG Chicago, IL Mount Carmel 6 1 175 12/18/2008 4 4 92 4 Ibby Djimde C Huntington, WV Huntington Prep 6 8 220 05/08/2011 2 3 87 Nnanna Egwu C Chicago, IL St. Ignatius 6 9 190 10/09/2009 4 4 94 4 Myke Henry SF Chicago, IL Orr Academy 6 6 220 05/10/2010 4 4 92 4 Devin Langford SF Huntsville, AL Lee High School 6 6 190 12/16/2010 3 3 91 3 Sam Maniscalco G Chicago, IL St. Patrick / Bradley 6 0 175 2011-04-13 2 3 78 Mike Shaw PF Chicago, IL De La Salle Institute 6 8 220 10/28/2010 4 4 92 4 2011 Illinois Commit List for 2011 Men's Basketball Recruiting ESPN - Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball Recruiting 2011 illinois illinois 169 356 13 11 11 11 2011-12-27 yes 10 illinois-fighting-illini Italy Trip Prior to the start of fall semester classes, the team embarked on a 10-day international tour of Italy in August, 2011.
