The main venue was Niedersachsenstadion (en Lower Saxony Stadium), which featured a new Olympic-style electronic scoreboard. 1 This stadium has since been rebuilt several times, most extensively in 2003/04. Cross Country was held at Sportpark Hannover (de Mehrkampfanlage) in Galgenberg. 4 This edition of masters athletics Championships had a minimum age limit of 35 years for women and 40 years for men. 1 The governing body of this series is World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA). WAVA was formed during meeting at the inaugural edition of this series at Toronto in 1975, then officially founded during the second edition in 1977, then renamed as World Masters Athletics (WMA) at the Brisbane Championships in 2001. http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/wmcm.htm WORLD MASTERS (VETERANS) CHAMPIONSHIPS (MEN) Athletics Weekly gbrathletics.com Kusy Krzysztof Zieliński Jacek Parzy Wiesława January 2006 83-88923-69-2 Masters athletics. Citing the fact that South Africa had been excluded from the Summer Olympic Games since 1968, DLV meet organizers initially planned to ban South African athletes. After much discussion, a compromise was reached to allow RSA athletes to compete under the flag of Rhodesia (RHO). 18 2 World Records Past Championships results are archived at WMA. https://world-masters-athletics.com/championships/results-championships-outdoor/ Championships Outdoor World Masters Athletics 2022-01-03 Additional archives are available from Museum of Masters Track & Field http://mastershistory.org/world-outdoor-championships-other-internationals/ Results: World Outdoor Championships, Other Internationals Museum of Masters Track & Field 2022-01-03 as a pdf book, http://www.mastershistory.org/International-Results/1979-Results-Hannover.pdf World Veterans Championships Hannover 27.7-2.8.1979 Museum of Masters Track & Field as a searchable pdf, Results Hannover http://www.mastershistory.org/International-Results/hanover1979s.pdf Museum of Masters Track & Field and in pdf newsletters from National Masters News. http://www.mastershistory.org/NMN/NMN-1979s-september.pdf 3126 from 42 nations compete in 3rd WORLD VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIPd September 1979 Museum of Masters Track & Field National Masters News http://www.mastershistory.org/NMN/NMN-1979s-october.pdf 3RD WORLD VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIP ISSUE October 1979 Museum of Masters Track & Field National Masters News http://www.mastershistory.org/NMN/NMN-1979s-november-new.pdf Americans shine in 3rd World Veterans Championships Pete Mundle November 1979 Museum of Masters Track & Field National Masters News Selected winners are archived at Athletics Weekly for women http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/wmcw.htm WORLD MASTERS (VETERANS) CHAMPIONSHIPS (WOMEN) Athletics Weekly gbrathletics.com and for men.
