Stanford won the program's first NCAA title after three previous runner-up finishes. UCLA was the top ranked team in the country and was undefeated coming into the match. The Bruins were the two time defending national champions, and became the first university to appear in three straight NCAA title matches, equaling its previous AIAW national title match streak from 1974 through 1976. UCLA's 43 match win streak was snapped with the loss.http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=LB&p_theme=lb&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EAE8E9CD2B1E583&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM STANFORD STUNS UCLA TO WIN NCAA VOLLEYBALL TITLE 1992-12-20 Press-Telegram 2009-03-24 https://web.archive.org/web/20121017214641/http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=LB&p_theme=lb&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0EAE8E9CD2B1E583&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM 2012-10-17 live The 1992 Final Four was held at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
