2002–03 Scottish Inter-District Championship

July 2017 Scotland Edinburgh Border Reivers 12 1999–2000 Scottish Inter-District Championship The 2002–03 Scottish Inter-District Championship was a rugby union competition for Scotland's professional district teams. With the re-emergence of the Border Reivers professional team and the collapse of the Welsh-Scottish League to make way for a shortened Celtic League, the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) reinstated the Scottish Inter-District Championship for the professional sides. Glasgow, Borders and Edinburgh then fought it out in a renamed Pro Cup sponsored by Bank of Scotland. The Bank of Scotland Pro Cup lasted one year. When the Celtic League was expanded the following year the SRU realised that there was no room in the schedule for a separate Scottish Inter-District Championship. This was despite both sponsor and fans happiness with the return of a national tournament. (The desire for national bragging rights later led the SRU to establish the 1872 Cup in 2007–08 season using the Celtic League matches to determine the winner.) 2002-03 League Table TeamPWDLPFPA+/-TBPLBPPts Edinburgh8512266140+1264228 Border Reivers8404164224-602018 Glasgow8215144210-661011 Results Match 1 1 November 2002 Edinburgh SCO 29-13 PreviewReport SCO Glasgow Jacobsen x 2 Laney x 2 Laney x 4Hodge Jon Petrie Calvin Howarth Calvin Howarth x 2 Meadowbank Stadium Franck Maciello (France) Match 2 26 December 2002 Glasgow SCO 10-10 Report SCO Edinburgh Roland ReidJoe Naufahu Laney Laney Laney Hughenden Stadium 4327 John Hogg (Hawick) Match 3 31 December 2002 14:30 Border Reivers SCO 21-6 PreviewPreviewReportReportReport SCO Glasgow CranstonGregor Townsend Utterson Utterson x 3 Calvin Howarth x 2 Netherdale Nigel Owens (WRFU) Match 4 3 January 2003 19:30 Edinburgh SCO 46-13 Report SCO Border Reivers Sharman (9, 61), Blair (17), Paterson (26, 49), Hogg (56), Dall (71) Laney (17, 26, 49, 56) Laney (42) Utterson (67) Utterson (67) Utterson (13, 28) Murrayfield Stadium M Fox (England) Match 5 24 January 2003 19:30 Edinburgh SCO 37-9 PreviewPreviewReportReport SCO Glasgow Laney x 2Smithpenalty try Laney x 3Paterson Laney x 3 Calvin Howarth x 3 Meadowbank Stadium 4107 N Williams (Wales) Match 6 31 January 2003 19:30 Glasgow SCO 19-42 Report SCO Border Reivers Glenn MetcalfeAndrew WilsonNathan Ross Calvin Howarth x 2 Morton x 2SititiArmstrongWalker Vili x 4 Vili x 3 Hughenden Stadium J-P Matheu (France) Match 7 7 February 2003 19:30 Border Reivers SCO 23-54 Report SCO Edinburgh TownsendFeather Vili x 2 Vili x 3 Lee x 2WebsterBrendan LaneyDougie HallMike BlairChris PatersonAllan Jacobsen Brendan Laney x 5Duncan Hodge x 2 R Maybank (England) Match 8 4 April 2003 19:30 Glasgow SCO 45-33 ReportReport SCO Edinburgh Rory KerrCalvin Howarth x 2Joe NaufahuGlenn Metcalfe x 2 Calvin Howarth x 3 Calvin Howarth x 3 Philip x 2MurrayDougie Hall Hodge x 2 Hodge x 3 Hughenden Stadium E Darriere (France) Match 9 11 April 2003 19:30 Border Reivers SCO 28-19 PreviewReportReportReport SCO Glasgow MortonDouglasFeatherWalker Vili Vili x 2 Andrew Henderson Calvin Howarth Calvin Howarth x 4 Netherdale G Ashton-Jones (RFU) Match 10 18 April 2003 Edinburgh SCO 44-7 ReportReport SCO Border Reivers Match 11 25 April 2003 Glasgow SCO 23-10 ReportReport SCO Border Reivers Rory KerrGraeme Beveridge Barry Irving x 2 Barry Irving x 3 Morton Thomson Thomson Hughenden Stadium Martin Fox (England) Match 12 2 May 2003 Border Reivers SCO 20-13 ReportReport SCO Edinburgh Category:2002–03 in Scottish rugby union 2002-03 Scot
