The season concluded in August with the Kenosha Kingfish winning the championship. Season overview Background In 2015, the NWL had eighteen teams, split evenly between a North and South Division. The Lakeshore Chinooks entered the season as defending champions, having defeated the Mankato MoonDogs in the 2014 NWL championship series.https://northwoodsleague.com/lakeshore-chinooks/2014/08/16/chinooks-win-2014-northwoods-league-championship/ Chinooks Win 2014 Northwoods League Championship Lakeshore Chinooks official site August 16, 2014 September 13, 2026 Season The regular season began in May, with the season split into two halves. The teams with the best records in the division for each half automatically qualified for a playoff berth. Starting in 2015, two additional teams from each division were added to the playoffs based on overall season record, and competed in a quarterfinal round of the playoffs. This resulted in eight teams qualifying for the playoffs. The playoff qualifiers for each division were as follows: North Division - St. Cloud Rox, Duluth Huskies, Rochester Honkers, Willmar Stingers South Division - La Crosse Loggers, Kenosha Kingfish, Madison Mallards, Green Bay Bullfrogs In the four single-elimination first round playoff games, the Huskies beat the Stingers, the Rox beat the Honkers, the Kingfish beat the Loggers, and the Mallards beat the Bullfrogs. In the single-game divisional championship round, the Rox defeated the Huskies and the Kingfish beat the Mallards. The championship series was a best-of-three set between the Kingfish and the Rox. The Kingfish swept the Rox and claimed their first NWL title.https://northwoodsleague.com/kenosha-kingfish/2015/08/15/kingfish-win-northwoods-league-summer-collegiate-world-series/ Kingfish Win Northwoods League Summer Collegiate World Series Kenosha Kingfish official site August 15, 2015 September 13, 2026https://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/rox/2015/08/15/kenosha-claims-northwoods-league-title-rox/31766819/?gnt-cfr=1&gca-cat=p&gca-uir=true&gca-epti=z115230e002525v115230d--52--b--52--&gca-ft=146&gca-ds=sophi Rennecke Andy Kenosha claims Northwoods League title over Rox SC Times August 14, 2015 September 13, 2026 Individual achievements Mason McCoy of the La Crosse Loggers was named 2015 NWL Most Valuable Player.
