Ewart Analysis The results of the election was considered an omen of a very successful result for the Queensland People's Party (QPP) in the coming state election within the metropolitan seats within Brisbane. A QPP victory was predicted in every seat but Brisbane, and it was suggested by the party that the safe Labor federal seat of Griffith may become marginal. These predictions did not come to pass.2 Labour men gain ground https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/49682495 5 May 2025 The Courier-Mail 3 May 1949 3Precis of results of Queensland state elections 1932 to 2012 https://documents.parliament.qld.gov.au/explore/parliamentaryrecord/sections/Part%202.21.pdf Parliament of Queensland 6 May 2025 https://web.archive.org/web/20240602221203/https://documents.parliament.qld.gov.au/explore/parliamentaryrecord/sections/Part%202.21.pdf 2 June 2024 References Category:Brisbane City Council elections Brisbane Category:1940s in Brisbane Category:April 1949 in Australia
