It was the Terrapins' 59th season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and its seventh within the ACC's Atlantic Division. After leading a significant turnaround in 2010 from the worst season in school history in 2009, Ralph Friedgen did not return for his 11th season as head coach. Maryland's out-of-conference schedule included a continuation of the long-standing rivalry with West Virginia and a neutral site game against Notre Dame at the Washington Commanders' stadium, FedExField in nearby Landover as well as a game against in-state FCS opponent Towson.WVU, Maryland Extend Football Series Through 2017 http://www.charlestondailymail.com/Sports/201009130485 Charleston Daily Mail September 13, 2010 January 1, 2015http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/030810aaa.html Notre Dame To Face Maryland At FedExField In 2011; Irish and Terrapins to Square off at Home of Washington Redskins on Nov. 12, 2011 Notre Dame University Department of Athletics March 8, 2010 July 2, 2011 Schedule 2011 AP Eastern September 5 8:00 pm w Miami (FL) Byrd Stadium College Park, MD ESPN 32–24 52,875 https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=312480120 Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs. Maryland Terrapins Box Score ESPN September 5, 2011 September 5, 2011 September 17 12:00 pm l y West Virginia 18 Byrd Stadium College Park, MD rivalry ESPNU 31–37 53,627 September 24 12:30 pm l y Temple Byrd Stadium College Park, MD ACCN 7–38 39,102 October 1 3:30 pm w y Towson 23 (FCS) Byrd Stadium College Park, MD ACCRSN 28–3 35,573 October 8 12:00 pm l y Georgia Tech 13 Bobby Dodd Stadium Atlanta, GA ESPNU 16–21 45,905 https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=312810059 Maryland Terrapins vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Box Score ESPN October 8, 2011 October 8, 2011 October 15 7:00 pm l y Clemson 8 Byrd Stadium College Park, MD ESPNU 45–56 47,961 https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=312880120 Clemson Tigers vs. Maryland Terrapins Box Score ESPN October 15, 2011 October 15, 2011 October 22 3:30 pm l y Florida State Doak Campbell Stadium Tallahassee, FL ABC/ESPN2 16–41 72,697 October 29 3:00 pm l Boston College Byrd Stadium College Park, MD ACCRSN 17–28 29,945 https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=313020120 Boston College Eagles vs. Maryland Terrapins Box Score ESPN October 29, 2011 October 29, 2011 November 5 12:30 pm l Virginia Byrd Stadium College Park, MD rivalry ACCN 13–31 37,401 November 12 7:30 pm l y y Notre Dame FedExField Landover, MD Shamrock Series NBC 21–45 70,251 November 19 3:00 pm l y Wake Forest BB&T Field Winston-Salem, NC ACCRSN 10–31 30,112 November 26 12:30 pm l y NC State Carter–Finley Stadium Raleigh, NC ACCN 41–56 55,323 Coaching staff Name Position(s) Year atMaryland Alma mater Sources Randy Edsall Head coach 1stSyracuse (1980) Randy Edsall Biography http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=716329&SPID=120713&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=207327171&Q_SEASON=2013 Maryland Athletics September 27, 2013 2013 October 2, 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20131002034059/http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=716329&SPID=120713&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=207327171&Q_SEASON=2013 dead Mike Locksley Offensive coordinator / quarterbacks 6thMike Locksley was previously an assistant coach at Maryland from 1997–2002.
