Stanford's win over Hawaii for the title was, and remains, one of the most lopsided finals in NCAA championship history. Stanford won 15-7, 15-3, 15-5. The 15 points scored by Hawaii was the lowest in an NCAA championship match since the NCAA tournament began in 1981.http://www.gostanford.com/sports/w-volley/archive/9798spec-rel/stan-w-volley-spec-rel1221.html Top-Seeded Stanford beats Hawaiʻi, 3-0 1996-12-21 Stanford Athletics 2009-03-25 https://web.archive.org/web/20110724004529/http://www.gostanford.com/sports/w-volley/archive/9798spec-rel/stan-w-volley-spec-rel1221.html 2011-07-24 dead Play-in games left November 27 175   Coastal Carolina (BSC, 26-6) 3   Chattanooga (SoCon, 26-10) 0 left November 27 175   Hofstra (A-East, 18-18) 3   Siena (MAAC, 21-8) 1 left November 29 175   SE Missouri St. (OVC, 27-7) 3   Valparaiso (Mid-Cont., 26-8) 1 left n/a 175   UCF (TAAC, 21-12) 3   Florida A&M (MEAC, 14-13) 0 left n/a 175   Sam Houston (SLC, 24-14) 3   Grambling State (SWAC, ?) 0 left n/a 175   Colgate (Patriot, 27-6) 3   Rider (Northeast, 16-12) 0 Records Pacific RegionalSeedSchoolConference Berth TypeRecordCal State NorthridgeBig SkyAutomatic22-10Colorado StateWACAt-large22-10HoustonConference USAAt-large24-7Kansas StateBig 12At-large25-8Loyola MarymountWest CoastAutomatic25-2Northern IllinoisMidwestern CollegiateAutomatic27-7South FloridaConference USAAutomatic27-4Southeast Missouri StateOhio ValleyAutomatic28-7StanfordPac-10Automatic26-2UC Santa BarbaraBig WestAt-large22-8USCPac-10At-large19-8Washington StatePac-10At-large25-5 East RegionalSeedSchoolConference Berth TypeRecordArkansasSECAt-large24-10BrownIvy LeagueAutomatic20-13Coastal CarolinaBig SouthAutomatic27-6ColgatePatriotAutomatic28-6George MasonCAAAutomatic26-2Georgia TechACCAt-large31-7LouisvilleConference USAAt-large24-4MarylandACCAutomatic26-4NebraskaBig 12Automatic27-3Penn StateBig TenAuto (shared)29-2Rhode IslandAtlantic 10Automatic31-6WisconsinBig TenAt-large23-7 Mountain RegionalSeedSchoolConference Berth TypeRecordArizonaPac-10At-large19-9BYUWACAutomatic25-6ColoradoBig 12At-large18-9HawaiiWACAt-large31-2Oral RobertsIndependentAt-large27-4PacificBig WestAt-large25-6Sam Houston StateSouthlandAutomatic25-14San DiegoWest CoastAt-large22-7San Diego StateWACAt-large21-10TexasBig 12At-large22-6Texas TechBig 12At-large25-8WashingtonPac-10At-large22-7 Central RegionalSeedSchoolConference Berth TypeRecordArk.-Little RockSun BeltAutomatic29-7FloridaSECAutomatic34-1HofstraAmerica EastAutomatic19-18Illinois StateMissouri ValleyAutomatic28-7Long Beach StateBig WestAutomatic32-2Miami (OH)Mid-AmericanAutomatic24-6Michigan StateBig TenAuto (shared)24-6MinnesotaBig TenAt-large23-10Notre DameBig EastAutomatic21-11Ohio StateBig TenAt-large26-5Texas A&MBig 12At-large24-7UCFTrans AmericaAutomatic23-12 Brackets Pacific regional Regional semifinal Regional Final   Houston 0 Colorado State 3 Southern California 3 SE Missouri State 0 UCSB 3 Northern Illinois 2 Cal St. Northridge 1 Kansas State 3 1 Stanford 3 Colorado State 0 Southern California 3 4 South Florida 1 3 Loyola Marymount 3 UCSB 1 Kansas State 0 2 Washington State 3 1 Stanford 3 Southern California 0 3 Loyola Marymount 1 2 Washington State 3 1 Stanford 3 2 Washington State 0 East regional Regional semifinal Regional Final   Rhode Island 2 Arkansas 3 Louisville 3 Brown 0 Wisconsin 3 Colgate 0 Coastal Carolina 0 Georgia Tech 3 1 Nebraska 3 Arkansas 1 Louisville 3 4 Maryland 1 3 George Mason 1 Wisconsin 3 Georgia Tech 0 2 Penn State 3 1 Nebraska 3 Louisville 0 Wisconsin 0 2 Penn State 3 1 Nebraska 3 2 Penn State 2 Mountain regional Regional semifinal Regional Final   Colorado 3 Oral Roberts 1 San Diego State 3 Sam Houston State 0 Washington 3 Texas Tech 0 San Diego 2 Arizona 3 1 Hawaii 3 Colorado 0 San Diego State 0 4 Texas 3 3 BYU 3 Washington 1 Arizona 1 2 Pacific 3 1 Hawaii 3 4 Texas 1 3 BYU 3 2 Pacific 2 1 Hawaii 3 3 BYU 0 Central regional Regional semifinal Regional Final   Illinois State 3 Miami (Oh.) 1 Notre Dame 3 Hofstra 0 Texas A&M 3 Arkansas-Little Rock 0 Central Florida 2 Minnesota 3 1 Florida 3 Illinois State 0 Notre Dame 2 4 Ohio State 3 3 Michigan State 3 Texas A&M 0 Minnesota 0 2 Long Beach State 3 1 Florida 3 4 Ohio State 2 3 Michigan State 3 2 Long Beach State 1 1 Florida 3 3 Michigan State 1 Final Four - CSU Convocation Center, Cleveland, Ohio National semifinals National Championship 1 Stanford 3 1 Nebraska 1 1 Hawaii 3 1 Florida 0 1 Stanford 3 1 Hawaii 0 References Category:NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament Category:College sports tournaments in Ohio Category:College volleyball in Ohio Category:Sports competitions in Cleveland Category:Women's sports in Cleveland NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament Category:1990s in Cleveland
