East Bengal, the defending champions, reached their second consecutive Durand Cup final after defeating Hindustan Aircraft 2–0 in the semi-final. Hyderabad City Police also made their second appearance in the final after they defeated Aryan 1–0 in the semi-final, having previously won the cup in 1950. East Bengal and Hyderabad City Police, both tried to take control of the game from the first minute, however, neither could break the deadlock until three minutes before the halftime, when Ramana found Pansanttom Venkatesh free inside the box with a measured pass, who made no error to find the net and make it 1–0 for East Bengal. Hyderabad got perhaps the easiest chance to equalise just two minutes later but Mahmood missed the chance. In the second half, Hyderabad went all out to find the equaliser but were denied by the East Bengal defence led by Dorailingam and Dr. P. Kumar as East Bengal managed to hold onto the scoreline and successfully defend their Durand Cup title, thus becoming the first Indian team to win the Durand Cup more than once.24 November 1952 ইস্ট বেঙ্গল দলের পুনরায় ডুরান্ড কাপ লাভ East Bengal wins the Durand Cup again bn Jugantor 2019-07-27 Top 10 moments in Durand Cup history East Bengal won their first-ever Durand Cup in 1951 https://khelnow.com/football/durand-cup-2019-history#:~:text=East%20Bengal%20won%20their%20first-ever%20Durand%20Cup%20in%201951 live 2021-08-04 Khel Now en-US 2021-02-26 https://web.archive.org/web/20210226184414/https://khelnow.com/football/durand-cup-2019-history#:~:text=East%20Bengal%20won%20their%20first-ever%20Durand%20Cup%20in%201951Debayan Sen 1 August 2020 https://www.espn.in/football/east-bengal/story/4139529/a-century-of-excellence-east-bengals-greatest-hits A century of excellence: East Bengal's greatest hits ESPN 18 November 2022Lokapally Vijay East Bengal: A long history with Delhi https://sportstar.thehindu.com/football/east-bengal-100-years-delhi-indian-football-kolkata-derby-mohun-bagan-durand-cup-novy-kapadia-aiff/article32247468.ece 2021-08-04 Sportstar en 2021-04-13 https://web.archive.org/web/20210413173247/https://sportstar.thehindu.com/football/east-bengal-100-years-delhi-indian-football-kolkata-derby-mohun-bagan-durand-cup-novy-kapadia-aiff/article32247468.ece live Details 23 November 1952 16:00 IST East Bengal Hyderabad City Police 1–0 Venkatesh 22 Delhi Gate Stadium, New Delhi 10,000 (est.)
