The match pitted Boca Juniors of Argentina, the CONMEBOL club champions, against Milan of Italy, the UEFA club champions. Milan won 4–2 in a match watched by 68,263 people. In doing so, Milan became the first non-Brazilian team – and first European – to win the Club World Cup. They won their fourth FIFA Club World Cup/Intercontinental Cup which was a repeat of the 2003 Intercontinental Cup where Milan had lost to Boca Juniors. Milan also overtook Boca Juniors, Nacional, Peñarol, Real Madrid and São Paulo as the only team to have won the competition four times. Kaká was named as man of the match.https://www.rsssf.org/tablest/toyotamvp.html Toyota Cup – Most Valuable Player of the Match Award Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation 20 December 2007 17 December 2008 https://web.archive.org/web/20081224143201/http://www.rsssf.com/tablest/toyotamvp.html 24 December 2008 live Road to final ARG Boca JuniorsTeamITA MilanCONMEBOLConfederationUEFAWinner of the 2007 Copa LibertadoresQualificationWinner of the 2006–07 UEFA Champions LeagueByePlay-off roundByeByeQuarter-finalsBye1–0 TUN Étoile du SahelSemi-finals1–0 JPN Urawa Red Diamonds Match Details 16 December 2007 19:30 (UTC+9) Boca Juniors ARG 2–4 https://www.fifa.com/clubworldcup/matches/round=249933/match=61295/report.html ITA Milan Palacio 22Ledesma 85 Inzaghi 21 71Nesta 50Kaká 61 Nissan Stadium, Yokohama 68,263Match Report https://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/competition/07_1216_arg-ita_fulltime_31992.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20131109031353/http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/competition/07%5f1216%5farg-ita%5ffulltime%5f31992.pdf dead 9 November 2013 Fédération Internationale de Football Association 28 May 2012 Marco Rodríguez (Mexico) _boca0708h _boca0708h2 _boca0708h _boca0708h 000040 000040 000040 000040 FFDF00 Boca Juniors _acm0708a _acm0708a _acm0708a _acm0708h _acm0709a FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF Milan GK 12ARG Mauricio CarantaRB 4 ARG Hugo Ibarra 40CB 20ARG Jonatan MaidanaCB 29ARG Gabriel Paletta 73LB 3 PAR 1990 Claudio MorelDM 5 ARG Sebastián Battaglia 55RM 15URU Álvaro González 67LM 24ARG Éver BanegaAM 19ARG Neri Cardozo 68CF 14ARG Rodrigo PalacioCF 9 ARG Martín Palermo (c)Substitutions:MF 8 ARG Pablo Ledesma 0 88 67MF 11ARG Leandro Gracián 68ManagerARG Miguel Ángel Russo GK 1 BRA DidaRB 25ITA Daniele BoneraCB 13ITA Alessandro NestaCB 4 GEO Kakha Kaladze 0 77LB 3 ITA Paolo Maldini (c)DM 21ITA Andrea PirloRM 8 ITA Gennaro Gattuso 65CM 23ITA Massimo Ambrosini 22LM 10NED Clarence Seedorf 87AM 22BRA Kaká 62CF 9 ITA Filippo Inzaghi 76Substitutions:MF 5 BRA Emerson 65DF 2 BRA Cafu 76MF 32ITA Cristian Brocchi 87ManagerITA Carlo Ancelotti Assistant referees: José Luis Camargo (Mexico) Pedro Rebollar (Mexico) Fourth official: Mark Shield (Australia)Match rules 90 minutes 30 minutes of extra time if necessary Penalty shoot-out if scores still level Twelve named substitutes, of which three may be used Statistics +OverallMatch Statistics https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/archive/clubworldcup/japan2007/results/match=61295/statistics.html 28 May 2012 FIFA https://web.archive.org/web/20100715185801/http://www.fifa.com/tournaments/archive/clubworldcup/japan2007/results/match%3D61295/statistics.html 15 July 2010 dead Boca Juniors MilanGoals scored 2 4Total shots 17 14Shots on target 9 7Ball possession 49% 51%Corner kicks 5 2Fouls committed 22 14Offsides 4 3Yellow cards 3 2Red cards 1 1 See also 2003 Intercontinental Cup – contested between same teams A.C.
