This was the first season with head coach Marcus Jackson. It was the school's first 20 win season and NCAA tournament appearance. Background Coach Marcus Jackson was recruited from Dartmouth College to replace Coach John Ross, who had accepted a promotion to assistant athletic director following the 1974–75 season. His preseason goals for the scrappy young program were 20 wins and an NCAA tournament bid, both of which were achieved.https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/archdeacon-marcus-jackson-first-coach-to-lead-wright-state-to-20-win-season-ncaa-tourney-dies-at-82/QB5AKZFGTRG2NELLS3XN3P35NA/ Archdeacon: Marcus Jackson, first coach to lead Wright State to 20-win season, NCAA tourney, dies at 82 5 September 2023 Dayton Daily News September 5, 2023 Roster 1975 Wright State Raiders y Bob Grote n basketball 30 G 6 4 205 sr Cincinnati, Ohio Lyle Falknor n basketball 40 F 6 5 195 sr New Madison, Ohio Rick Martin n basketball 20 G 5 9 150 sr Middletown, Ohio Steve Shook n basketball 34 F 6 6 210 sr Centerville, Ohio Neil Reif n basketball 32 G 6 4 200 sr Cincinnati, Ohio Curt Shellabarger n basketball 43 F 6 7 210 jr Celina, Ohio Ken Millisor n basketball 42 C 6 7 207 so Bremen, Ohio Rick Zink n basketball 23 G 6 1 161 so Dayton, Ohio Guy Conners n basketball 44 C 6 7 200 fr Amelia, Ohio Bob Cook n basketball 22 G 6 3 175 fr Miamisburg, Ohio Dan Huguely n basketball 33 F 6 6 185 fr Dayton, Ohio Edgar Johnson n basketball 25 F 6 5 204 fr Warren, Ohio Alan McGee n basketball 23 G 6 1 160 fr Fort Wayne, Indiana Don Person n basketball 24 G 6 2 180 fr Dayton, Ohio Marcus Jackson Jerry Holbrook, Jim Brown Sourcehttps://corescholar.libraries.wright.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1014&context=athletics_publications Wright State University Basketball Press Book 1975-76 Wright State University Athletics September 6, 2023 Schedule and results y |- !colspan=12 style=Wright State Raiders|Regular season Nov 29, 1975 Oakland WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 103-79 1–0 |- Dec 3, 1975 yes Cincinnati Cincinnati, Ohio 70-118 1–1 |- Dec 6, 1975 Marian WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 107-83 2–1 |- Dec 13, 1975 Otterbein WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 86-84 3–1 |- Dec 16, 1975 Cumberland WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 87-75 4–1 |- Dec 20, 1975 Indianapolis WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 91-82 5–1 |- Dec 29, 1975 yes Ohio Northern Gambier, OH 83-80 6–1 |- Dec 30, 1975 yes Kenyon Gambier, OH 68-73 6–2 |- Jan 3, 1976 yes Armstrong State Savannah, Georgia 89-85 OT 7-2 |- Jan 7, 1976 Cleveland State WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 89-85 8–2 |- Jan 10, 1976 Central State WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 84-80 9–2 |- Jan 12, 1976 yes Morehead State Morehead, Kentucky 74-94 9–3 |- Jan 14, 1976 Akron WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 78-65 10–3 |- Jan 17, 1976 yes Stetson DeLand, Florida 66-70 10–4 |- Jan 21, 1976 Roosevelt WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 118-59 11–4 |- Jan 24, 1976 Indiana-Southeast WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 94-52 12–4 |- Jan 28, 1976 yes Akron Akron, OH 84-81 2OT 13–4 |- Jan 31, 1976 yes Slippery Rock Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania 72-75 13–5 |- Feb 4, 1976 Northern Kentucky WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 91-87 14–5 |- Feb 7, 1976 yes Cleveland State Cleveland, OH 76-62 15–5 |- Feb 11, 1976 yes Franklin 58-57 16–5 |- Feb 14, 1976 Bellarmine WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 71-64 17–5 |- Feb 18, 1976 yes Northern Kentucky Highland Heights, Kentucky 73-85 17–6 |- Feb 21, 1976 yes Central State Wilberforce, Ohio 51-59 17–7 |- Feb 24, 1976 Thomas More WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 86-84 18–7 |- Feb 28, 1976 Wilmington WSU PE Building Fairborn, OH 109-53 19–7 |- !colspan=12 style=Wright State Raiders| NCAA tournament |- Mar 10, 1976 yes Evansville Roberts Municipal Stadium Evansville, Indiana 75-85 19–8 |- Mar 10, 1976 yes St. Joseph’s (IN) Roberts Municipal Stadium Evansville, Indiana 72-68 20–8 |- MW Midwest Sourcehttps://wsuraiders.com/documents/2022/9/7/MBB_History_Thru_2021-22.pdf Wright State Record Book March 2, 2023 Awards and honors Bob Grote honorable mention all-America selection by Associated Press https://corescholar.libraries.wright.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1018&context=athletics_publications "Wright State Basketball Press Book 1976-1977" Wright State University Athletics September 6, 2023 Bob Grote MVP Rick Martin MVP Lyle Falknor Raider Award https://wsuraiders.com/documents/2023/10/16/MBB_History_Through_2022-23.pdf Wright State Record Book October 23, 2023 Statistics Number Name Games Average Points Rebounds Assists 30-15 Bob Grote 28 17.1 479 189 66 40-20 Lyle Falknor 28 14.2 398 113 39 35-31 Bob Schaefer 28 12.1 338 210 29 20-10 Rick Martin 27 11.8 320 62 98 34-32 Steve Shook 28 9.5 266 166 21 43-30 Curt Shellabarger 18 6.9 124 95 18 23-11 Alan McGee 28 4.4 123 53 36 33-22 Dan Huguely 22 3.5 77 56 3 32-21 Neil Reif 25 2.8 69 45 13 25-24 Edgar Johnson 9 4.1 37 12 0 24-12 Don Person 6 3.8 23 13 2 42-23 Ken Millisor 10 2.2 22 19 2 44-25 Guy Conners 7 1.3 8 3 0 22-14 Bob Cook 8 0.9 7 4 2 _ Rick Zink 1 0.0 0 1 1 Sourcehttps://wsuraiders.com/documents/2018/8/16//1975_76_MBB_stats.pdf?id=14432 1975-76 WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL STATISTICS September 6, 2023 References Wright State Category:Wright State Raiders men's basketball seasons Wright State Raiders men's basketball Wright State Raiders men's basketball
