The prelude to the 2006 ProTour was dominated by a dispute between the managers of the Grand Tours and UCI, which meant that the Grand Tours were initially not to be a part of the 2006 ProTour. On April 7, 2006, an agreement to the dispute between the Grand Tours organisers and the Union Cycliste Internationale was reached , guaranteeing the future of the ProTour. 2006 ProTour races DateRaceCountryWinnerTeamMarch 5–12 Paris–NiceFloyd Landis USAPHO 2006March 8–14Tirreno–AdriaticoThomas Dekker NEDRAB 2006March 18Milan – San RemoFilippo Pozzato ITAQST 2006April 2Tour of FlandersTom Boonen BELQST 2006April 3–8Vuelta al País Vasco José Ángel Gómez Marchante ESPFUJ 2006April 5Gent–Wevelgem Thor Hushovd NORC.A 2006April 9 Paris–RoubaixFabian Cancellara SUISAX 2006April 16 Amstel Gold Race Fränk Schleck LUXSAX 2006April 19La Flèche WallonneAlejandro Valverde ESPGCE 2006April 23 Liège–Bastogne–LiègeAlejandro Valverde ESPGCE 2006April 25–30 Tour de RomandieCadel Evans AUSSIL 2006May 6–28Giro d'ItaliaIvan Basso ITASAX 2006May 15–21 Volta a CatalunyaDavid Cañada ESPFUJ 2006June 4–11Critérium du Dauphiné LibéréLevi Leipheimer USAGST 2006June 10–18 Tour de SuisseJan Ullrich GERTHR 2006June 18 Eindhoven Team Time Trialteam eventSAX 2006July 1–23Tour de FranceÓscar Pereiro ESPGCE 2006July 30Vattenfall CyclassicsÓscar Freire ESPRAB 2006August 1–9Deutschland TourJens Voigt GERSAX 2006August 12Clásica de San SebastiánXavier Florencio ESPBBO 2006August 16–23Eneco Tour of BeneluxStefan Schumacher GERGST 2006August 27GP Ouest-FranceVincenzo Nibali ITALIQ 2006August 28 – September 19Vuelta a EspañaAlexander Vinokourov KAZONC 2006dSeptember 4–10Tour de PologneStefan Schumacher GERGST 2006October 1Züri-MetzgeteSamuel Sánchez ESPEUS 2006October 8Paris–ToursFrédéric Guesdon FRAFDJ 2006October 14Giro di LombardiaPaolo Bettini ITAQST 2006 Final individual standings  NameTeamPoints1Alejandro Valverde ESPGCE 20062852Samuel Sánchez ESPEUS 20062133Fränk Schleck LUXSAX 20061654Cadel Evans AUSSIL 20061625Andrey Kashechkin KAZONC 2006d1566Alessandro Ballan ITALAM 20061557Tom Boonen BELQST 20061548Paolo Bettini ITAQST 20061449Ivan Basso ITASAX 200613810Stefan Schumacher GERGST 2006133 A total of 209 riders were classified Floyd Landis had 175 points before the UCI removed his name from the standings following his removal from the Phonak team.
