The league system was 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and additional bonus points being awarded for scoring 4 or more tries and/or losing within 7 points of the victorious team. In terms of promotion the league champions would go straight up into National League 1 while the runners up would have a one-game playoff against the runners up from National League 2 South (at the home ground of the club with the superior league record) for the final promotion place. After two years of missing out on promotion via the playoffs, Loughborough Students went one better and won the league title outright, being easily the best side in the division and finishing 22 points clear of the rest of the pack to gain promotion to the 2012–13 National League 1.http://www.lboro.ac.uk/service/publicity/news-releases/2012/58_rugby.html Loughborough Students crowned National 2 North Champions Loughborough University 27 March 2012 http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/national-leagues/2011-2012/group/15466 SSE National League 2 North 2011-12 englandrugby.com 28 April 2012 While Loughborough Students were clear winners the battle for second place was much tighter with Caldy eventually taking the runners up place just 1 point ahead of Preston Grasshoppers and Hull. Caldy's luck would run out in the promotion playoff, however, losing 20 - 13 away to 2011–12 National League 2 South runners up Richmond.http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/other-sport/rugby-union/heartbreak-caldy-lose-national-league-3344122 Heartbreak for Caldy as they lose National League Two play-off final against Richmond Liverpool Echo 7 May 2012http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/caldy/s/match-centre-12848/0-1134589/ Richmond 20 -v- Caldy 13 (aet) Pitchero 5 May 2012 13 November 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20150518085246/http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/caldy/s/match-centre-12848/0-1134589/ 18 May 2015 dead Apart from Kendal who were the first team to go down, it was very tightly contested at the bottom of the table as with bonus points paying a huge role in determining Nuneaton's relegation, with the Nun's 10 victories being supplanted with just 6 bonus points.http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/sport/rugby/9625212.Westoe_defeat__sends_Kendal_down/r/?ref=rss Westoe defeat sends Kendal down The Westmorland Gazette 31 March 2012 13 November 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20151208081049/http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/sport/rugby/9625212.Westoe_defeat__sends_Kendal_down/r/?ref=rss 8 December 2015 dead http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/match-report-nuneaton-22-caldy-3027064 Match Report: Nuneaton 22 Caldy 8 Coventry Telegraph 30 April 2012 The final side to go down was Harrogate who finished 1 point adrift of 13th placed Leicester Lions, with more wins than the Leicestershire side but not enough bonus points.http://www.harrogateadvertiser.co.uk/sport/rugby/bittersweet-day-for-harrogate-teams-1-4497208 Bittersweet day for Harrogate teams Harrogate Advertiser 28 April 2012 13 November 2015 8 December 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20151208131505/http://www.harrogateadvertiser.co.uk/sport/rugby/bittersweet-day-for-harrogate-teams-1-4497208 dead Kendal and Harrogate would drop to National League 3 North while Nuneaton would fall to National League 3 Midlands.http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/northern-division/2012-2013/ National League Three North 2012-13 englandrugby.com 1 September 2012 13 November 2015 27 January 2016 https://web.archive.org/web/20160127091411/http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/northern-division/2012-2013/ dead http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/midlands-division/2012-2013/ National League Three Midlands 2012-13 englandrugby.com 1 September 2012 13 November 2015 24 September 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20150924050106/http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/midlands-division/2012-2013/ dead yes Participating teams and locations Twelve of the teams listed below participated in the 2010–11 National League 2 North season; Otley were relegated from the 2010–11 National League 1, Bromsgrove (champions) and Sheffield Tigers (playoffs) would come up from National League 3 Midlands while Stockport were promoted as champions of National League 3 North.http://www.ilkleygazette.co.uk/sport/8998536.Otley_chairman_is_optimistic_about_the_future_after_relegation/ Otley chairman is optimistic about the future after relegation Ilkley Gazette 28 April 2011 http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/midlands-division/2010-2011/ National League Three Midlands 2010-11 englandrugby.com 7 May 2011 13 November 2015 27 January 2016 https://web.archive.org/web/20160127091355/http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/midlands-division/2010-2011/ dead http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/northern-division/2010-2011/ National League Three North 2010-11 englandrugby.com 7 May 2011 13 November 2015 27 January 2016 https://web.archive.org/web/20160127091402/http://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/competitions/northern-division/2010-2011/ dead England 500 Locations of the 2011-12 National League 2 North teams England 52.335589 -2.061906 70 Bromsgrove right England 53.349379 -3.132934 70 Caldy right England 53.992120 -1.541811 70 Harrogate right England 53.645792 -1.785034 70 Huddersfield right England 53.745670 -0.336741 70 Hull right England 53.74290 -0.56819 70 Hull Ionians top England 54.328005 -2.746290 70 Kendal right England 52.574344 -1.163394 70 Leicester Lions right England 52.7705 -1.2046 70 Loughborough Students top England 52.249249 -2.814077 70 Luctonians right England 52.520489 -1.465381 70 Nuneaton left England 53.905825 -1.691785 70 Otley left England 53.763201 -2.703089 70 Preston right England 53.381129 -1.470085 70 Sheffield Tigers right England 53.406754 -2.158842 70 Stockport bottom England 54.999424 -1.427406 70 Westoe right TeamStadiumCapacityCity/AreaBromsgroveFinstall ParkBromsgrove, WorcestershireCaldyPaton Field4,000Thurstaston, Wirral, MerseysideHarrogateClaro Road4,500 (500 seats)Courage Official Rugby Union Club Directory 1990–91 1990 Burlington Publishing Co.
