This was done by celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Law in the form of 47 different commemorative coins (designs on obverse side). The program ran until 2016, concluding with the final issues for Tokyo and Fukushima. All 1,000 yen coins were minted in silver, and have a fixed mintage of 100,000 per issue. The Japanese dates used for the coins appears in Arabic numerals to reflect former emperor Akihito's (Heisei) year of reign. Many of the designs are cultural in nature and depict elements such as shrines, flora/fauna, and historical figures. thumb|right|Various obverse designs have been used for the different prefectures (Hokkaido shown here) thumb|right|Reverse design for the Local Autonomy Law series Japanese date Gregorian date Prefecturehttps://www.mint.go.jp/eng/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_index.html Japan 47 Prefectures Coin Program Japan Mint April 5, 2019 July 30, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20220730041736/https://www.mint.go.jp/eng/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_index.html dead Elements depicted 20 2008 Hokkaido Lake Tōya and Red-crowned craneshttps://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_hokkaido.html Summary of Hokkaido Prefecture Japan Mint April 7, 2019 August 10, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20220810101221/https://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_hokkaido.html dead Kyoto Scene 3 from Chapter 49 of The Tale of Genjihttps://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_kyoto.html Summary of Kyoto Prefecture Japan Mint April 7, 2019 August 10, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20220810101223/https://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_kyoto.html dead Shimane Otoriosame-Chogin and peonieshttps://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_shimane.html Summary of Shimane Prefecture Japan Mint April 7, 2019 November 27, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20221127161422/https://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_shimane.html dead 21 2009 Nagano The Japanese Alps and Kamikōchihttps://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_nagano.html Summary of Nagano Prefecture Japan Mint April 7, 2019 August 10, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20220810101227/https://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_nagano.html dead Niigata Japanese crested ibis and Sado Islandhttps://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_niigata.html Summary of Niigata Prefecture Japan Mint April 7, 2019 August 10, 2022 https://web.archive.org/web/20220810101229/https://www.mint.go.jp/buy-eng/international-eng/47prefecture-coin-program-eng/eng_coin_international_prefecture_niigata.html dead Ibaraki H-II (H2) launch vehicle and Mt.
