The team that qualified via the Copa Libertadores played the second leg at home. The team that accumulated the most points —three for a win, one for a draw, zero for a loss— after the two legs was crowned the champion. In case of the two teams tied on points after the second leg, the team with the best goal difference won. If the two teams had equal goal difference, the away goals rule was not applied. Extra time was played, which consisted of two 15-minute halves. If the tie was still not broken, a penalty shootout ensued according to the Laws of the Game.http://www.conmebol.com/export/sites/conmebol/Docs/Recopa/2012/Reglamento_Recopa_2012.pdf Campeonato Sudamericano de Fútbol “Recopa Sudamericana” Edición 2012 – Reglamento CONMEBOL.com Spanish Qualified teams TeamQualificationPrevious app.BRA Santos 2011 Copa Libertadores champion NoneCHI Universidad de Chile 2011 Copa Sudamericana champion None Bold indicates winning years Venues left horizontal 500 Estadio Nacional de Chile.jpg Estádio do Pacaembu 2017.jpg Estadio Nacional (left) and Estadio do Pacaembu, venues Match details First leg August 22, 2012 21:00 UTC−04:00 2012 Recopa Sudamericana First leg Universidad de Chile CHI 0–0 Report BRA Santos Estadio Nacional, Santiago 35,000 Néstor Pitana (Argentina) _Uchile1011h _Uchile1011h _Uchile1011h _adidaswhite _3_stripes_white 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF Universidad de Chile_santos12h1 _nikenegro Santos GK 25 CHI Johnny HerreraDF 5 CHI Albert Acevedo (c)DF 23 CHI Sebastián MartínezDF 13 CHI José Manuel RojasDF 3 CHI Eugenio MenaMF 6 ARG Matías Rodríguez 78MF 20 CHI Charles AránguizMF 8 ARG Guillermo Marino 80MF 15 CHI Roberto Cereceda 1MF 22 ARG Gustavo Lorenzetti 54FW 9 ARG Enzo GutiérrezSubstitutes:GK 12 CHI Paulo GarcésDF 21 ECU Eduardo MoranteDF 14 CHI Paulo MagalhaesDF 24 CHI Igor LichnovskyMF 2 ARG Ezequiel Videla 80FW 16 CHI Francisco CastroFW 18 CHI Christian Bravo 78Manager:ARG Jorge Sampaoli GK 1 BRA Rafael CabralDF 4 BRA Bruno PeresDF 2 BRA Bruno RodrigoDF 6 BRA Durval (c)DF 16 BRA JuanMF 15 BRA AdrianoMF 5 BRA Arouca 10MF 10 BRA Ganso 27MF 17 ARG Patricio Rodríguez 87FW 9 BRA André 64CF 11 BRA NeymarSubstitutes:GK 12 BRA AranhaDF 13 BRA David BrazDF 21 BRA DouglasMF 22 BRA Gérson MagrãoMF 8 BRA Felipe Anderson 87FW 20 ARG Ezequiel Miralles 64FW 19 BRA BillManager:BRA Muricy Ramalho Assistant referees: Ricardo Casas (Argentina) Hernán Maidana (Argentina) Fourth official: Germán Delfino (Argentina) Second leg September 26, 2012 19:00 UTC−03:00 Second leg Santos BRA 2–0 Report CHI Universidad de Chile Neymar 27 Bruno Rodrigo 60 Estádio do Pacaembu, São Paulo 24,000 Martín Vázquez (Uruguay) _santos12h1 _nikenegro Santos_Uchile1011h _Uchile1011h _Uchile1011h _adidaswhite _3_stripes_white 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF 0000FF Universidad de Chile GK1 BRA Rafael CabralDF4 BRA Bruno Peres 70DF2 BRA Bruno RodrigoDF6 BRA Durval (c) 76DF3 BRA Léo 52MF15 BRA Adriano 18MF5 BRA AroucaMF8 BRA Felipe AndersonMF17 ARG Patricio Rodríguez 85FW9 BRA AndréFW11 BRA NeymarSubstitutes:GK24 BRA VladimirDF13 BRA David BrazDF21 BRA DouglasMF22 BRA Gérson Magrão 52MF14 BRA Ewerton Páscoa 70FW20 ARG Ezequiel Miralles 85FW19 BRA BillManager:BRA Muricy Ramalho GK 25 CHI Johnny HerreraDF 5 CHI Albert Acevedo (c) 51DF 4 CHI Osvaldo González 60DF 13 CHI José Manuel RojasDF 3 CHI Eugenio MenaMF 6 ARG Matías Rodríguez 46MF 23 CHI Sebastián Martínez 56MF 20 CHI Charles Aránguiz 46MF 22 ARG Gustavo Lorenzetti 88FW 19 CHI Sebastián Ubilla 54FW 9 ARG Enzo GutiérrezSubstitutes:GK 12 CHI Paulo GarcésDF 14 CHI Paulo Magalhaes 51DF 24 CHI Igor LichnovskyMF 2 ARG Ezequiel VidelaMF 8 ARG Guillermo Marino 46MF 15 CHI Roberto CerecedaFW 16 CHI Francisco Castro 46Manager:ARG Jorge Sampaoli Assistant referees: Mauricio Espinosa (Uruguay) Miguel Nievas (Uruguay) Fourth official: Daniel Fedorczuk (Uruguay) References Category:2012 in South American men's continental football 2012 Category:Santos FC matches Category:Club Universidad de Chile matches Rec Rec Category:August 2012 sports events in South America Category:September 2012 sports events in South America Category:Football matches in Chile Category:International sports competitions in São Paulo Category:Football competitions in São Paulo (city) Category:Football competitions in Santiago, Chile Category:2010s in São Paulo Category:2010s in Santiago, Chile 2012 Category:Men's football matches in Brazil
