The bombing targeted the No. 12 express train, which derailed while traveling at high speed near the small village of Blacy, Marne between Vitry-le-François and Loisy-sur-Marne. On the day after the derailment, investigators found that the rails had been sabotaged using an explosive device that went off when the train passed over it. It also emerged that the stationmaster at Vitry-le-François had earlier received a threatening letter from the OAS.http://www.senat.fr/comptes-rendus-seances/5eme/pdf/1962/01/q19620130_0001_0028.pdf Journal officiel de la république française 3 30 January 1962 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20150924115207/http://www.senat.fr/comptes-rendus-seances/5eme/pdf/1962/01/q19620130_0001_0028.pdf 24 September 2015 () "2294. — 2ß décembre 1951. — M.
