The Whigs, under the leadership of the Viscount Melbourne, despite losing 98 seats, survived in the majority through an alliance with the Irish Radicals. In Wales specifically, the Whigs won 15 seats (11 uncontested), against 17 (11 uncontested) for the Conservatives, a shift of 3 seats from Whigs to Conservatives.https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/S83HOA Results Party Seats Seats change Votes %Conservative Party (UK) 17 3 10,210 66.6 Whigs (British political party) 15 3 5,119 33.4 Total 32 15,329 100 Popular vote #ddd 600px 350px Conservatives Conservative Party (UK) 66.61 Whigs Whigs (British political party) 33.39 Parliamentary seats #ddd 600px 350px Conservatives Conservative Party (UK) 53.13 Whigs Whigs (British political party) 46.88 See also Modern history of Wales References 1835 Category:1835 in Wales #Wales Category:January 1835 Category:February 1835 Category:1830s elections in Wales Category:William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne Category:Robert Peel
