The cover art features a lonely and abandoned tombstone with no name. Veland said this metaphorically represents the concept of the album: a return to his rock musical roots.https://longlivemetal.fr/interview-sirenia-entretien-avec-morten-veland/ Interview | SIRENIA - Entretien avec Morten Veland 22 May 2023 18 August 2023https://mhf-mag.com/interviews/interview-with-morten-veland-of-symphonic-metal-band-sirenia/ Interview With Morten Veland Of Symphonic Metal Band "Sirenia" Keith Clement 2 June 2023 18 August 2023 The album followed in the same vein as the previous Riddles, Ruins & Revelations (2021), in terms of its commercial style, loaded with synthesizers and a main role in the voice of Emmanuelle Zoldan. This style shows the band moving further away from their earlier symphonic gothic metal sound for "symphonic synth-pop", and it was received with much less enthusiasm by the band's fans, being their lowest charting since their first two albums.https://tuonelamagazine.com/review-sirenia-1977/ REVIEW: Sirenia – 1977 Andrea C 22 May 2023 Tuonela Magazine 18 August 2023 Emmanuelle Zoldan said: "1977" is a very varied and melodic album that explores a new style, infused with 70s-80s vibes. It is a dark album, with symphonic hitting and catchy melodies, that is nevertheless still faithful with the Sirenia sound and soul. The mix has been done by HK at the Vamacara Studio in Paris, who did an amazing job!https://metalgossip.ru/interviews-en/emmanuelle-zoldan-covid-period-curbed-us-in-a-moment-we-were-just-about-to-take-off/ Emmanuelle Zoldan: "Covid period curbed us in a moment we were just about to take off" — MetalGossip 18 August 2023 Track listing Morten Veland, except where noted 44:52 Deadlight 4:54 Wintry Heart 4:03 Nomadic 4:27 The Setting Darkness 4:46 A Thousand Scars 5:55 Fading to the Deepest Black 3:36 Oceans Away 5:02 Dopamine 4:30 Delirium 4:03 Timeless Desolation 3:36 Bonus track 49:01 Twist In My Sobriety Tanita Tikaram cover Tanita Tikaram 4:09 Personnel Credits for 1977 adapted from liner notes.(2021).
