The Adelaide United forward could have opened the scoring inside the opening five minutes but he failed to latch on to Sergio Cirio's square pass through the penalty area. As the match progressed, Adelaide playmaker Marcelo Carrusca was next to test Perth Glory keeper Danny Vukovic, stinging the keeper's fingers from long range. Perth's shouts for a penalty on the 25th minutes were waved away by the referee, when Adelaide's keeper Eugene Galekovic and Richard Garcia tangled just outside the area but replays showed Galekovic won the ball. The visiting team racked up the fouls with Garcia and Joshua Risdon earning bookings on the 32nd and 42nd minutes respectively before Mabil squandered an opportunity to break the deadlock in first half injury time. After Carrusca won back possession on halfway, he released Bruce Djite who in turn teed up Mabil who blasted high and wide from eight metres with just the keeper to beat. Adelaide continued to dominate proceedings in the second half and Mabil wasted another chance just after the break, blazing over the bar once again after some neat build up play from Cirio. The hosts took full advantage when Risdon's tug on Carrusca's shorts saw him earn a second yellow card just before the hour mark and the deadlock was broken not 10 minutes later. Carrusca slipped Cirio through from the edge of the area, and the player rounded Vukovic and slotted his shot from a tight angle. Perth had Vukovic to thank for keeping the score at 1–0 when he tipped over a 30-metre shot from Isaías with five minutes remaining. Late into the match, Adelaide were content to maintain possession and saw out the final few minutes without any incident, ensuring they held on for the win.Adelaide United v Perth Glory - FFA Cup Match Centre http://www.theffacup.com.au/matchcentre/Adelaide-United-v-Perth-Glory/786794 theffacup.com.au 4 December 2014 8 July 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20150708084113/http://www.theffacup.com.au/matchcentre/Adelaide-United-v-Perth-Glory/786794 deadFFA Cup Final: Match Report - Adelaide defeat Perth http://www.theaustralian.com.au/video/id-VqMTdicjou1WbtjZUbQwDSCdWLUL0gq4 The Australian 19 December 2014October 2026 medicmedicCirio goal gives Adelaide FFA Cup win over Perth Glory 16 December 2014 http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/2769730/adelaide-united-win-first-ffa-cup/ illawarramercury.com.au 19 December 2014 Details 16 December 2014 19:00 ACDT Adelaide United 1–0 Report Perth Glory Cirio 67 Coopers Stadium, Adelaide 16,142 Chris Beath _Adelaide_United_FFA_Cup_2014 FF0000 FF0000 FF0000 FF0000 FF0000 Adelaide United _Perth_Glory_FFA_Cup_2014 FFE643 FFE643 FFE643 FFE643 FFE643 Perth Glory GK 1 AUS Eugene Galekovic (c)RB 2 AUS Michael MarroneCB 4 AUS Dylan McGowanCB 3 AUS Nigel BoogaardLB 21AUS Tarek ElrichRM 18AUS James JeggoCM 8 ESP Isaías 69LM 10ARG Marcelo Carrusca 80RF 17 AUS Awer Mabil 59CF 11 AUS Bruce Djite 86LF 9 ESP Sergio CirioSubstitutes:GK 30AUS John HallMF 14AUS Cameron Watson 86MF 22POR Fábio Ferreira 59MF 24AUS Bruce KamauFW 7 ESP Pablo Sánchez 80Manager:ESP Josep Gombau GK 1 AUS Danny VukovicRB 19AUS Joshua Risdon 2 42 58CB 6 AUS Dino DjulbicCB 23AUS Michael Thwaite (c)LB 21AUS Scott JamiesonCM 8 AUS Ruben ZadkovichCM 5 AUS Rostyn GriffithsAM 10SER Nebojša Marinković 79RF 11AUS Richard Garcia 32CF 9 IRE Andy KeoghLF 20AUS Daniel De Silva 45Substitutes:GK 18AUS Jack DuncanDF 3 AUS Brandon O'NeillFW 14AUS Chris HaroldFW 15AUS Jamie Maclaren 79FW 16BRA Sidnei Sciola 45Manager:ENG Kenny Lowe Man of the Match (Mark Viduka Medal): Sergio Cirio Assistant referees: George Lakrindis Anton Shchetinin Fourth official: Jonathan Barreiro Additional assistant referees: Kris Griffiths-Jones Shaun EvansMatch rules: 90 minutes. 30 minutes of extra time if necessary.
