Two category 1 climbs and a category 2 – and a few other bumps along the way. Although the last 10 km are downhill, the course may be well suited to a break-away. Peter Sagan – the up-and-coming young cyclist claimed the victory in the sprint. It was his third victory of the season. The win put him in first place overall as he was just 0.92 seconds behind the previous leader, Marco Pinotti. Sagan was pleased with the win, but pledged his loyalty to LIQ 2010 team leader Roman Kreuziger. According to Cycling News, Sagan said, Our team leader is Roman Kreuziger and I don't know what I can do. I'm not a good climber like he is. We'll see. There are three hard stages and a time trial to come Sprinter Mark Cavendish could not hang in the mountains and was dropped from the peloton with 45 km to go. Had he not, a victory would have helped teammate Marco Pinotti remain in the leaders jersey.Cycling News http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/64th-tour-de-romandie-upt/stage-1/results Sagan superior in Fleurier 8 April 2010 Cycling News Cycling News 28 April 2010 https://web.archive.org/web/20100501225318/http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/64th-tour-de-romandie-upt/stage-1/results 1 May 2010 live Stage 1 results 1 Peter Sagan SVK LIQ 2010 4h 50' 21" 2 Francesco Gavazzi ITA LAM 2010 + 0" 3 Nicolas Roche IRE A2R 2010 + 0" 4 Maxim Iglinsky KAZ AST 2010 + 0" 5 Fabio Felline ITA FOT 2010 + 0" 6 Robert Hunter SAF GRM 2010 + 0" 7 Michel Kreder NED GRM 2010 + 0" 8 Anders Lund DEN SAX 2010 + 0" 9 Ben Swift GBR SKY 2010 + 0" 10 Stefan Denifl AUT CTT 2010 + 0" https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-de-romandie/2010/stage-1 Tour de Romandie 2010 Stage 1 results ProCyclingStats.com 12 May 2026General classification after stage 1 1 Peter Sagan SVK LIQ 2010 4h 55' 29" 2 Marco Pinotti ITA THR 2010 + 9" 3 Jérémy Roy FRA FDJ 2010 + 12" 4 Michael Rogers AUS THR 2010 + 12" 5 Christophe Moreau FRA GCE 2010 + 14" 6 Francesco Gavazzi ITA LAM 2010 + 15" 7 Roman Kreuziger CZE LIQ 2010 + 15" 8 Rubén Plaza SPA GCE 2010 + 15" 9 Haimar Zubeldia SPA RSH 2010 + 15" 10 Nicolas Roche IRE A2R 2010 + 16" https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-de-romandie/2010/stage-1-gc Tour de Romandie 2010 Stage 1 results ProCyclingStats.com 12 May 2026 Stage 2 29 April 2010 – Fribourg to Fribourg, 171.8 km The course passed through Fribourg twice before a flat finish.
