The Scarlet Knights, led by third year head coach Mike Rice Jr., played their home games at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, better known as The RAC, and were members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 5–13 in Big East play to finish in 12th place. They lost in the second round of the Big East tournament to Notre Dame. This was their last year as a member of the Big East Conference. The so-called Catholic 7 members of the Big East will separate themselves from the conference, along with Butler, Creighton and Xavier, to form a new conference that retains the Big East Conference name. In 2013–14, Rutgers will be part of the American Athletic Conference. They will only play in the AAC for one season as they will join the Big Ten Conference in 2014–15. Head coach Mike Rice Jr. was fired April 3, 2013. Assistant coach Jimmy Martelli resigned on April 4, 2013.Rutgers Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Jimmy Martelli Resigns http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/04/04/rutgers-assistant-mens-basketball-coach-jimmy-martelli-resigns/ CBS New New York 4 April 2013 Roster Number Name Position Height Weight Year Hometown 1 Jerome Seagears Guard 6–1 175 Senior Silver Spring, Maryland 2 Dane Miller Guard/Forward 6–6 215 Senior Rochester, New York 4 Myles Mack Guard 5–9 170 Sophomore Paterson, New Jersey 5 Eli Carter Guard 6–2 195 Sophomore Paterson, New Jersey 10 Mike Poole Guard/Forward 6–5 195 Junior Rosedale, New York 13 Malick Kone Guard/Forward 6–5 200 Sophomore Conakry, Guinea 15 Derrick Randall Forward/Center 6–8 240 Sophomore Brooklyn, New York 21 Austin Johnson Forward 6–8 250 Senior Elkins Park, Pennsylvania 22 Kadeem Jack Forward 6–9 225 Sophomore Queens, New York 24 Vincent Garrett Guard/Forward 6–5 210 Junior Chicago, Illinois 30 Logan Kelley Guard 6–2 200 Freshman Mountainside, New Jersey 33 Wally Judge Forward 6–9 250 Junior Washington, D.C. 35 Greg Lewis Forward 6–9 240 Sophomore Randallstown, Maryland Schedule no 2012-13 NCAA Division I men's basketball rankings 2011 yes yes |- !colspan=9| Exhibition 11/04/2012 1:00 pm yes no Holy Family The RAC Piscataway, NJ 1,052 92–52 |- !colspan=9| Regular season 11/09/2012 7:30 pm yes no Saint Peter's The RAC Piscataway, NJ 3,906 SNY 52–56 0–1 11/12/2012 7:30 pm yes no Sacred Heart The RAC Piscataway, NJ 2,768 88–62 1–1 11/16/2012 7:00 pm yes yes no Princeton Jadwin Gymnasium Princeton, NJ Rivalry 3,150 58–52 2–1 11/20/2012 7:30 pm yes no Boston University The RAC Piscataway, NJ 4,382 ESPN3 81–79 3–1 11/25/2012 2:00 pm yes yes no UNC Greensboro Greensboro Coliseum Greensboro, NC 1,793 87–80 4–1 12/01/2012 2:00 pm yes yes no Ole Miss Tad Smith Coliseum Oxford, MS SEC–Big East Challenge 4,277 ESPNU 67–80 4–2 12/08/2012 9:30 pm yes yes no Iona Madison Square Garden New York City, NY Holiday Festival 10,003 MSG2 81–73 5–2 12/11/2012 7:30 pm yes no George Washington The RAC Piscataway, NJ 4,385 SNY/ESPN3 68–65 6–2 12/16/2012 12:00 pm yes no UAB The RAC Piscataway, NJ 4,679 88–79 7–2 12/21/2012 7:30 pm yes no Howard The RAC Piscataway, NJ 5,924 79–55 8–2 12/28/2012 3:00 pm yes no Rider The RAC Piscataway, NJ 4,568 68–56 9–2 01/02/2013 7:00 pm yes no Syracuse 7 Carrier Dome Syracuse, NY 17,413 MSG/ESPN3 53–78 9–3 (0–1) 01/05/2013 11:00 am no Pittsburgh 24 The RAC Piscataway, NJ 5,081 ESPN2 67–62 10–3 (1–1) 01/09/2013 7:00 pm yes no St. John's Madison Square Garden New York City, NY 6,192 MSG/ESPN3 58–56 11–3 (2–1) 01/12/2013 8:00 pm no Cincinnati 21 The RAC Piscataway, NJ 5,560 SNY/ESPN3 58–68 11–4 (2–2) 01/17/2013 9:00 pm no South Florida The RAC Piscataway, NJ 4,205 ESPN2 70–67 12–4 (3–2) 01/19/2013 8:00 pm yes no Notre Dame 20 Edmund P.
