Representatives were elected for two-year terms; those elected served in the 111th Congress from January 3, 2009, until January 3, 2011. The election coincided with the 2008 U.S. presidential election and other Wisconsin elections. Wisconsin has eight seats in the House, apportioned according to the 2000 United States census. Its 2007-2008 congressional delegation consisted of five Democrats and three Republicans. That remained unchanged after the 2008 congressional elections in Wisconsin as all incumbent candidates won re-election, although CQ Politics had forecasted Wisconsin's 8 district to be at some risk for the incumbent party.House: Races to Watch https://web.archive.org/web/20071213230328/http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=11 2007-12-13 CQ Politics As of , this is the last time the Democrats won a majority of congressional districts from Wisconsin. However, they would still go on to win the popular vote in several subsequent House elections. yes 2 Results summary PartyCandi- datesVotesSeatsNo. Number %No. Number+/– %Democratic Party71,383,53649.85%562.50%Republican Party71,274,98745.94%337.50%Independent2103,8093.74%00%Libertarian Party212,8420.46%00%Total182,775,174100%8100% Popular vote #ddd 600px 410px Democratic Democratic Party (United States) 49.85 Republican Republican Party (United States) 45.94 Independent Independent 3.74 Libertarian Libertarian Party (United States) 0.46House seats #ddd 600px 410px Democratic Democratic Party (United States) 62.50 Republican Republican Party (United States) 37.50 District 1 2008 Wisconsin's 1st congressional district election Wisconsin presidential no 2006 United States House of Representatives elections in Wisconsin#District 1 2006 2010 United States House of Representatives elections in Wisconsin#District 1 2010 x150px File:Paul Ryan, Official Portrait, 113th Congress (cropped).png Paul Ryan Republican Party (US) 231,009 63.97% 3x4.svg Marge Krupp Democratic Party (US) 125,268 34.69% 250px Precinct resultsRyan: #FFB2B2 40–50% #E27F7F 50–60% #d75d5d 60–70% #D72F30 70–80% #C21B18 80–90% #A80000 >90%Krupp: #A5B0FF 40–50% #7996e2 50–60% #6674de 60–70% #584cde 70–80% #3933e5 80–90%Tie: #ae8bb1 50% #808080 No votes U.S. Representative Paul Ryan Republican Party (US) Paul Ryan Republican Party (US) WI1 House 2008.svg thumb Wisconsin's 1st congressional district In this relatively moderate district in southeast Wisconsin, incumbent Republican Congressman Paul Ryan has enjoyed popularity and faced no serious challenge from Democratic nominee, Marge Krupp, a chemist.
