After winning only six of their first 28 matches and languishing in the relegation zone for most of the season, Luton won nine of their final 14 matches to finish in 13th place. They also reached the FA Cup semi-finals and were four minutes from beating holders Everton before conceding an equaliser and losing 2–1 after extra time. Millwall riot 1985 Luton riot The FA Cup sixth round tie against Millwall at Kenilworth Road was disrupted by one of English football's worst outbreaks of hooliganism. Visiting fans caused extensive damage to the ground and to cars and properties throughout the town, prompting Luton chairman David Evans to introduce a controversial identity card scheme and ban away supporters from the ground. The Guardian described the events as "a night football died a slow death."https://hattersheritage.co.uk/matches/luton-town-fc-vs-millwall-13-mar-1985#slider-match-report-1 Match Report: Luton Town FC vs Millwall (13th Mar 1985) - The night football died a slow death at Kenilworth Road Hatters' Heritage Squad Players who made one appearance or more for Luton Town F.C. during the 1984-85 season Pos.Nat.NameLeagueMilk CupFA CupTotalAppsGoalsAppsGoalsAppsGoalsAppsGoalsGKENGAndy Dibble1303000130GKSCOJake Findlay30100040GKENGLes Sealey2600080340DFENGTim Breacker34(1)0208044(1)0DFNIRMal Donaghy4214282545DFENGMicky Droy (on loan from Chelsea)20100030DFENGPaul Elliott913000121DFENGSteve Foster2510081332DFIREAshley Grimes902000110DFENGStacey North70100080DFENGMitchell Thomas35(1)0208045(1)0DFENGColin Todd20100030MFENGRay Daniel4(3)100509(3)1MFENGVince Hilaire5(1)02(1)0007(2)0MFENGRicky Hill3924083515MFENGDavid Moss17(2)7211(1)020(3)8MFWALPeter Nicholas1900000190MFNGREmeka Nwajiobi21(8)9105(2)127(10)10MFENGGarry Parker13(7)10(3)15(1)018(11)2MFENGDavid Preece2120000212MFENGWayne Turner23(1)0408135(1)1FWENGFrankie Bunn17(3)5410021(3)6FWENGSteve Elliott1233300156FWENGMick Harford221500813016FWENGBrian Stein42943825414FWENGMark Stein0(1)000000(1)0 https://hattersheritage.co.uk/statistics?season%5B%5D=90&sort=appearances-desc Player Statistics 1984/85 Season Hatters' HeritageRothmans 1985-86 219–220 League table First Division y LUT Results First Division 1984–85 Football League 1 25 August 1984 Luton Town 2–0 W Stoke City S.
