(2,2,3-Trimethyl-5-oxocyclopent-3-enyl)acetyl-CoA synthase 6.2.1.38
(2,2,3-Trimethyl-5-oxocyclopent-3-enyl)acetyl-CoA synthase (6.2.1.38, 2-oxo-Delta3-4,5,5-trimethylcyclopentenylacetyl-CoA synthetase) is an enzyme with systematic name ((1R)-2,2,3-trimethyl-5-oxocyclopent-3-enyl)acetate:CoA ligase (AMP-forming). Ougham HJ, Taylor DG, Trudgill PW Camphor revisited: involvement of a unique monooxygenase in metabolism of 2-oxo-Δ3-4,5,5-trimethylcyclopentenylacetic acid by Pseudomonas putida Journal of Bacteriology 153 1 140–52 January 1983 10.1128/jb.153.1.140-152.1983 6848481 217351 This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction
[(1R)-2,2,3-trimethyl-5-oxocyclopent-3-enyl]acetate + ATP + CoA AMP + diphosphate + [(1R)-2,2,3-trimethyl-5-oxocyclopent-3-enyl]acetyl-CoA
This enzyme is isolated from Pseudomonas putida.
