The season was split into two competitions: the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura; each of identical format and contested by the same eighteen teams. Clubs Eighteen teams competed in the season. Querétaro was relegated to the Ascenso MX after accumulating the lowest coefficient over the past three seasons. The 2012 Apertura Ascenso MX champion La Piedad would promote after defeating the Clausura 2013 winner Neza in a promotional play-off. But on May 28, 2013, Querétaro's ownership announced that it bought out Jaguares de Chiapas, relocated the team to Querétaro, dissolved the old Querétaro team and ensured that Querétaro would still have a team in the first division. It was also announced that San Luis would move to Tuxtla Gutiérrez and be rebranded Chiapas F.C., replacing the old Querétaro. La Piedad confirmed that they would relocate to Veracruz and be rebranded as Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz. These changes sparked controversy in the Mexican press as Querétaro effectively bought its place back in the first division and newly promoted La Piedad completely lost its team.Tom Marshall Liga MX team changes finalized http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4209/mexico/2013/05/29/4012433/liga-mx-team-changes-finalized 29 May 2013 11 August 2013 Mexico 400 right Location of the 2013–14 Liga MX teams Mexico 19.433333 -99.133333 Cruz AzulAméricaUNAM bottom Mexico 21.160556 -86.8475 Atlante left Mexico 20.666667 -103.35 AtlasGuadalajara left Mexico 16.752778 -93.116667 Chiapas right Mexico 21.116667 -101.683333 León right Mexico 25.666667 -100.3 Monterrey right Mexico 19.768333 -101.189444 Morelia left Mexico 20.121667 -98.735833 Pachuca right Mexico 19.051389 -98.217778 Puebla right Mexico 20.5875 -100.392778 Querétaro right Mexico 25.53935 -103.448633 Santos Laguna left Mexico 32.525 -117.033333 Tijuana right Mexico 19.2925 -99.656944 Toluca left Mexico 25.75 -100.283333 UANL left Mexico 19.190278 -96.153333 Veracruz right Stadiums and locations ClubCityStateStadiumCapacityAméricaMexico CityDistrito FederalAzteca105,000AtlanteCancúnQuintana RooAndrés Quintana Roo20,000AtlasGuadalajaraJaliscoJalisco63,200ChiapasTuxtla GutiérrezChiapasVíctor Manuel Reyna31,500Cruz AzulMexico CityDistrito FederalEstadio Azul35,000GuadalajaraGuadalajaraJaliscoOmnilife49,850LeónLeónGuanajuatoLeón33,943MonterreyMonterreyNuevo LeónTecnológico38,000MoreliaMoreliaMichoacánMorelos39,000PachucaPachucaHidalgoHidalgo30,000PueblaPueblaPueblaCuauhtémoc48,650QuerétaroQuerétaroQuerétaroLa Corregidora36,500Santos LagunaTorreónCoahuilaCorona30,000TijuanaTijuanaBaja CaliforniaCaliente21,000TolucaTolucaEstado de MéxicoNemesio Díez27,000UANLSan Nicolás de los GarzaNuevo LeónUniversitario42,000UNAMMexico CityDistrito FederalOlímpico Universitario63,000VeracruzVeracruzVeracruzEstadio Luis de la Fuente30,000 Personnel and kits Team Manager Captain Kit manufacturer Shirt sponsorAméricaARG Antonio MohamedCOL Aquivaldo Mosquera Nike Bimbo, Coca-ColaAtlante ARG Pablo MariniMEX Mauricio Romero Kappa Cancún, Riviera Maya, ADO, Grupo Pegaso Atlas MEX Tomás BoyARG Leandro Cufré Nike Casas Javer, Coca-ColaChiapas MEX Sergio BuenoARG Javier Muñoz Pirma/Kappa Chiapas, SorianaCruz AzulMEX Luis Fernando Tena MEX Gerardo Torrado Umbro Cemento Cruz Azul, Coca-ColaGuadalajara ARG Ricardo La VolpeMEX Omar Bravo adidas BimboLeón URU Gustavo MatosasMEX Rafael Márquez Pirma Caja Popular Mexicana, Telcel, Coca-Cola, Office DepotMonterreyMEX Carlos Barra & MEX José Treviño (interim)ARG José María Basanta Nike Bimbo/Carta Blanca (in FIFA Club World Cup), BBVA BancomerMorelia ARG Ángel David ComizzoCOL Aldo Ramírez Joma Bridgestone, DportenisPachucaMEX Enrique MezaMEX Óscar Pérez Nike Cementos Fortaleza, Mobil Super, Samsung, TelcelPueblaARG Rubén Omar RomanoMEX Luis Miguel Noriega Pirma/Kappa Volkswagen/www.puebla.travelQuerétaro MEX Ignacio AmbrízMEX Marco Jiménez Pirma Libertad Servicios Financieros, Gasolineras OrsanSantos Laguna POR Pedro CaixinhaMEX Oswaldo Sánchez Puma Soriana, Peñoles, Pepsi, LalaTijuanaVEN César FaríasARG Javier Gandolfi Nike Caliente, Boing!Toluca PAR José CardozoPAR Paulo Da Silva Under Armour BanamexUANL BRA Ricardo FerrettiMEX Lucas Lobos adidas Cemex, Cemento MonterreyUNAM MEX José Luis TrejoPAR Darío Verón Puma BanamexVeracruz MEX José Luis Sánchez SoláMEX Jehu Chiapas Kappa Winpot, Boing!
