The tour involved a schedule of 27 games; 18 in Australia, including a three-test series against Australia for the Ashes and a further nine in New Zealand, including a three-test series against New Zealand. Captained by Jonty Parkin, the Lions returned home having won 21, and lost six games. They won the Ashes against Australia by two tests to one, but lost two out of three tests against New Zealand. Despite being classed as Great Britain with the presence of Welsh players, the team actually played the tour listed as England.1924 Great Britain Lions tour summary - Rugby League ProjectAlan Whiticker Ian Collis Rugby League Test Matches in Australia 1994 ABC Books Sydney 0 7333 0329 3 49-54 Squad An initial 20-man squad for the tour was named on 27 February 1924,Rugby Men For The Tour https://britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000748/19240228/144/0015 Leeds Mercury 28 February 1924 15 British Newspaper Archive subscription with six additional players being selected in the following weeks.Rugby League: Touring Team Complete https://britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0003295/19240313/040/0003 Halifax Daily Courier & Guardian 13 March 1924 3 British Newspaper Archive subscription Wakefield Trinity scrum-half Jonty Parkin was appointed as captain.Parkin To Captain Tourists https://britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000324/19240410/067/0010 Hull Daily Mail 10 April 1924 10 British Newspaper Archive subscription Name Position Nationality Club Ernie Knapman Fullback ENG Oldham 16 Oldham Jim Sullivan Jim Sullivan (rugby, born 1903) Fullback WAL Wigan 16 Wigan Billy Bentham Wing ENG Cronulla 16 Broughton Rangers Frank Evans Frank Evans (rugby) Wing WAL Swinton 16 Swinton Johnny Ring Wing WAL Wigan 16 Wigan Sid Rix Wing ENG Oldham 16 Oldham Jim Bacon Jim Bacon (rugby) Centre WAL Leeds 16 Leeds Charlie Carr Charlie Carr (rugby league) Centre ENG Barrow 16 Barrow Tommy Howley Centre WAL Wigan 16 Wigan Charlie Pollard Centre ENG Wakefield 16 Wakefield Trinity Danny Hurcombe Stand-off WAL Wigan 16 Wigan Stan Whitty Stand-off ENG Hull 16 Hull Walter Mooney Walter Mooney (rugby leage) Scrum-half ENG Leigh 16 Leigh Jonty Parkin (c) Scrum-half ENG Wakefield 16 Wakefield Trinity Harold Bowman Prop forward ENG Hull 16 Hull Bill Burgess Bill Burgess (rugby league, born 1897) Prop forward ENG Barrow 16 Barrow Billy Cunliffe Prop forward ENG Warrington 16 Warrington Joe Thompson Joe Thompson (rugby) Prop forward WAL Leeds 16 Leeds Jack Bennett Jack Bennett (rugby league) Hooker ENG Rochdale 16 Rochdale Hornets Ben Gronow Hooker WAL Huddersfield 16 Huddersfield Albert Brough Second-row ENG Oldham 16 Oldham Joe Darwell Second-row ENG Leigh 16 Leigh Dai Rees Dai Rees (rugby, 1920s) Second-row WAL Halifax 16 Halifax Bob Sloman Second-row ENG Oldham 16 Oldham Frank Gallagher Frank Gallagher (rugby league) Loose forward ENG Batley 16 Batley Jack Price Jack Price (rugby league) Loose forward ENG Wigan 16 Wigan The two team managers were J.
