In the final, only seven were able to make 2.29 and at the next height 2.33 they were down to four, Derek Drouin, Bohdan Bondarenko, Zhang Guowei and Mutaz Essa Barshim all on their first attempt. In fact all but Barshim were perfect to that point. Nobody could make 2.36, which left a three way tie for first and Barshim, the odd man out. They did a fourth, jumpoff attempt at 2.36, nobody made it. The next step lowered the bar to 2.34. Drouin cleared it, putting do or die pressure on the others. Neither made it giving Drouin the gold and leaving a tie for silver. http://www.iaaf.org/news/report/beijing-2015-mens-high-jump-final1 REPORT: MEN'S HIGH JUMP FINAL – IAAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, BEIJING 2015 30 August 2015 iaaf.org 2 September 2015 Records Prior to the competition, the records were as follows:http://www.iaaf.org/records/by-discipline/jumps/high-jump/outdoor/men Records & Lists – High jump IAAF 19 August 2015 World recordJavier Sotomayor CUB2.45Salamanca, Spain27 July 1993Championship recordBohdan Bondarenko UKR2.41Moscow, Russia15 August 2013World leadingMutaz Essa Barshim QAT2.41Eugene, OR, United States30 May 2015African recordJacques Freitag RSA2.38Oudtshoorn, South Africa5 March 2005Asian recordMutaz Essa Barshim QAT2.43Brussels, Belgium5 September 2014North, Central American and Caribbean recordJavier Sotomayor CUB2.45Salamanca, Spain27 July 1993South American recordGilmar Mayo COL2.33APereira, Colombia17 October 1994European recordPatrik Sjöberg SWE2.42Stockholm, Sweden30 June 1987Bohdan Bondarenko UKRNew York City, United States14 June 2014Oceanian recordTim Forsyth AUS2.36Melbourne, Australia2 March 1997 Qualification standards Entry standards 2014 IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 – Standards http://media.aws.iaaf.org/competitioninfo/544c7d0a-0807-4226-a85b-79928c58a097.pdf IAAF 18 August 2015 2.28 Schedule Date Time Round28 August 2015 09:45 Qualification30 August 2015 18:30 Final All times are local times (UTC+8) Results KEY:QQualifiedq12 best performersNRNational recordPBPersonal bestSBSeasonal best Qualification Qualification: 2.31 m (Q) or at least 12 best performers (q).Qualification results Rank Group Name Nationality 2.17 2.22 2.26 2.29 2.31 Mark Notes 1 A Derek Drouin CAN 2015 World o o o o o 2.31 Q B Zhang Guowei CHN 2015 World o o o o o 2.31 Q 3 B Bohdan Bondarenko UKR 2015 World – o – xo o 2.31 Q A Mutaz Essa Barshim QAT 2015 World – o o xo o 2.31 Q 5 A Brandon Starc AUS 2015 World o o xxo xxo o 2.31 Q, PB 6 A Eike Onnen GER 2015 World o o o o xxo 2.31 Q 7 B Dimitrios Chondrokoukis CYP 2015 World o o o xo xxo 2.31 Q 8 B Jaroslav Bába CZE 2015 World o o o xxo xxo 2.31 Q, SB A Konstadinos Baniotis GRE 2015 World o o xo xo xxo 2.31 Q, SB 10 B Daniil Tsyplakov RUS 2015 World o o o o xx– 2.29 q B Donald Thomas athlete BAH 2015 World o o o o x– 2.29 q B Erik Kynard USA 2015 World o o o o xxx 2.29 q A Gianmarco Tamberi ITA 2015 World o o o o xxx 2.29 q A Trevor Barry BAH 2015 World o o o o xxx 2.29 q, SB 15 B Majd Eddin Ghazal SYR 2015 World o o xo o xxx 2.29 NR Syrian 16 A JaCorian Duffield USA 2015 World xxo o o o xxx 2.29 17 A Andriy Protsenko UKR 2015 World o xo xo xo xxx 2.29 18 B Michael Mason athlete CAN 2015 World o o o xxx 2.26 A Robert Grabarz GBR 2015 World – o o xxx 2.26 A Wang Yu CHN 2015 World o o o xxx 2.26 21 B Joel Baden AUS 2015 World o xo o xxx 2.26 SB 22 A Jesse Williams high jumper USA 2015 World o o xo xxx 2.26 A Mihai Donisan ROU 2015 World o o xo xxx 2.26 24 A Ivan Ukhov RUS 2015 World o xo xo xxx 2.26 25 B Ryan Ingraham BAH 2015 World xxo – xo xxx 2.26 A Naoto Tobe JPN 2015 World o xxo xo xxx 2.26 27 B Dmytro Yakovenko athlete UKR 2015 World xo o xxo xxx 2.26 28 B Mateusz Przybylko GER 2015 World o o xxx 2.22 A Kabelo Kgosiemang BOT 2015 World o o xxx 2.22 A Takashi Eto JPN 2015 World o o xxx 2.22 A Yuriy Krymarenko UKR 2015 World o o xxx 2.22 32 B Hsiang Chun-Hsien TPE 2015 World xxo o – xxx 2.22 33 B Dmitry Kroyter ISR 2015 World o xo xxx 2.22 A Sylwester Bednarek POL 2015 World o xo xxx 2.22 35 B Yuji Hiramatsu JPN 2015 World o xxx 2.17 A Ali Mohd Younes Idriss SUD 2015 World o xxx 2.17 37 B Eugenio Rossi Eugenio Rossi (athlete) SMR 2015 World xo xxx 2.17 B Matúš Bubeník SVK 2015 World xo xxx 2.17 39 B Talles Frederico Silva BRA 2015 World xxo xxx 2.17 40 B Raivydas Stanys LTU 2015 World xxx 0.00 NM 41 B Marco Fassinotti ITA 2015 World 0.00 DNS Final The final was started at 18:30Final results Rank Name Nationality 2.20 2.25 2.29 2.33 2.36 2.36 2.34 Mark Notes Derek Drouin CAN 2015 World o o o o xxx x o 2.34 Bohdan Bondarenko UKR 2015 World − o − o xxx x x 2.33 Zhang Guowei CHN 2015 World o o o o xxx x x 2.33 04 4 Mutaz Essa Barshim QAT 2015 World o o xo o xxx 2.33 05 5 Daniil Tsyplakov RUS 2015 World o o o xxx 2.29 06 6 Donald Thomas athlete BAH 2015 World o o xo − xxx 2.29 07 7 Jaroslav Bába CZE 2015 World o xo xo xxx 2.29 08 8 Erik Kynard USA 2015 World o o xxx 2.25 Gianmarco Tamberi ITA 2015 World o o xxx 2.25 10 Trevor Barry BAH 2015 World xxo o xxx 2.25 11 Dimitrios Chondrokoukis CYP 2015 World o xo xxx 2.25 12 Brandon Starc AUS 2015 World o xxo xxx 2.25 Eike Onnen GER 2015 World o xxo xxx 2.25 14 Konstadinos Baniotis GRE 2015 World xo xxx 2.20 References High jump Category:High jump at the World Athletics Championships
