The name of the league was changed from Iraqi Elite League to Iraqi Premier League, and the season began on 29 October 2013. The situation in Iraq caused by the war with ISIS began to worsen towards the end of spring 2014, with increased unrest in the country causing travel difficulties and concerns over the feasibility of scheduling the remaining fixtures, particularly with the month of Ramadan approaching. On 18 June 2014, after the end of round 23 of 30, the Iraq Football Association (IFA) announced in an official statement that it had decided to end the league at its current stage and consider the league table as final, without relegating any teams.http://ftp.burathanews.com/arabic/news/239772 اتحاد الكرة ينهي رسميا مسابقة الدوري الممتاز بكرة القدم Buratha News Agency 18 June 2014 First-placed Al-Shorta and second-placed Erbil would not be crowned as champions and runners-up respectively,http://www.iraqfpg.com:80/Docs. ArabicViewer/efac38cc-ccd1-4835-b708-04e6abf56fcc/Default.aspx 22 June 2014 deadhttp://fromkarbalanews.com/4923-%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3%20%D8%A7%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%A7%D8%AF%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D8%B1%D8%A9:%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D8%B1%D8%B7%D8%A9%20%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%B3%20%D8%A8%D8%B7%D9%84%D8%A7%20%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%8A%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%85%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%B2.html رئيس اتحاد الكرة: الشرطة ليس بطلا للدوري الممتاز Karbala News 18 June 2014 https://web.archive.org/web/20211220202857/http://fromkarbalanews.com/4923-%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3%20%D8%A7%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%A7%D8%AF%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D8%B1%D8%A9:%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D8%B1%D8%B7%D8%A9%20%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%B3%20%D8%A8%D8%B7%D9%84%D8%A7%20%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%8A%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%85%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%B2.html 20 December 2021 but would be considered as such only for the purpose of enabling admission into the AFC Cup.https://alforatnews.iq/news/57103 الاتحاد الكروي يكتفي بتسمية نادي الشرطة بطلا للدوري الممتاز على المستوى الخارجي فقط Al-Forat News 18 June 2014 https://web.archive.org/web/20211220202902/https://alforatnews.iq/news/57103 20 December 2021 deadhttp://www.the-afc.com/afc-cup-2014/afc-cup-2015-the-contenders AFC Cup 2015: The contenders...
