Season summary The Hornets had a satisfying start to the 1992–93 season and by the end of 1992 were in 14th place, 10 points clear of the relegation zone and 5 points adrift of the play-off places, but a bad run of 8 defeats in 12 league games saw their play-off chances slip away and stuck them in mid-table, finishing in a disappointing 16th place. At the end of the season, manager Steve Perryman left the club to return to Tottenham Hotspur as assistant manager to Osvaldo Ardiles and Watford appointed Gillingham boss Glenn Roeder as his replacement.Metcalf Rupert Cole Robert Football: Watford turn to Roeder to replace Perryman: Former player takes over at Vicarage Road to dismay of Gillingham https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-watford-turn-to-roeder-to-replace-perryman-former-player-takes-over-at-vicarage-road-to-dismay-of-gillingham-1484065.html https://ghostarchive.org/archive/20220501/https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-watford-turn-to-roeder-to-replace-perryman-former-player-takes-over-at-vicarage-road-to-dismay-of-gillingham-1484065.html 1 May 2022 subscription live The Independent 10 July 1993 24 February 2014 However, Watford were fined £10,000 for an illegal approach, and ordered to pay Gillingham a further £30,000 in compensation. The Watford Football Club Illustrated Who's Who Jones, Trefor 1996 0-9527458-0-1 277 Final league table 1992–93 Football League#First Division First Division WAT y Results Watford's score comes firsthttp://www.statto.com/football/teams/watford/1992-1993/results Watford 1992-1993 Results -
